Default RWTD Live with different intro

Has anyone ever heard them play it this way live?

First tour I ever caught was Diver Down, they may have played it this way, but I don't remember ever hearing it this way.

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

    STELLAR find, Dreidel!

They should turn that opening/lead-in riff into a new tune.

That intro is BAD ASS!!! that could definitely be part of a new song. And this version is faster too. Maybe they did a lot more coke than usual that night?
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

I thought I had a bootleg (don't know when) where they use that intro except that it's a lot slower.

Sounds pretty damn cool this one!

Yep, they played the intro that way throuout the hole tour of 1980. I got it on every boot of that time. I think they got sick by it by then and mixed it up a little to keep it fresh.

Wow. I LOVE that version. I agree that it is way faster than usual, and it definitely works better live. This last tour was the first time I saw them play it live and it felt slow. For some reason that pace translates better to the record than it does live. With that quick pace you could hear the audience clapping along with it. Good stuff
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Definitely too fast. Works all right live, but does lose a little of the groove at that speed.

Yeah, they played RWTD in this arrangement the entire 1980 tour. When I saw them at the LA Sports Arena that tour, at first no one had any idea what song this was and it was a big surprise when Eddie broke into the well known guitar riff.

This was the way the song was originally written and arranged back at the beginning of 1976. There's several well known bootlegs of club gigs from the first half of '76 where the song was played like this with the drums instead of the bass leading. Once they recorded the Gene Simmons demos, they changed the arrangement to the traditionally known album version with the bass intro-ing the song.

I didn't know this version is the original arrangement. Cool info. Damn, VH sounded killer back in the day!

I am sure there is no way to know, but was that Gene's suggestion or an idea they were already toying with.

I know it had to be Gene's idea for DLR's low "this House of PAIN" growl on the demo version of House of Pain. DLR has never done that ever again on any song.
