Default Sign me up for welfare, free health insurance

    Norwich Bulletin, Posted Dec 18, 2010 @ 11:52 PM

I sent this letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

I was laid off from Pratt & Whitney in April 1993 after 20 years. I went through the apprenticeship program and thought it would provide me with the American dream. I ran my own business for almost two years until that failed because of repressive taxes and outrageous energy costs; went back to school at age 44 to learn a new trade, got another job, and was laid off again, at age 55, for “cost reasons,” replaced by the 20-year-old I trained. I received only 26 weeks of unemployment.

I now earn $15 per hour, about what I made when I was 28. Not much of an improvement in 30 years. I’ve been robbed of most of my retirement benefits after working all my life because of your expert handling of the economy.

You recently said welfare is the new driving force behind the economy. Where can I sign up so I don’t have to work and can get free health insurance? Better yet, maybe a job in government. Either way, I wouldn’t have to work for a living.

you don't want to know how far this can go. Up here, people on welfare also get private insurnace that pays for meds, glasses, etc that working people have to pay for. Talk about motivation to not get a job.

many of us ask this. I'm all for society as a whole helping to take care of those who can't take care of themselves. I have no issue at all paying more in taxes if it means helping the person who's been hit by some horrible disease or was born with a terrible condition or who fought for their country and was injured severely. Those people should get everything that we can possibly provide. I do not believe in giving this same treatment to those who just don't want to work. Those people should get nothing.

There is a reason communism doesn't work...people are inherently lazy, they work because they have to.

Give a man fifteen dollars an hour to sit at home or twenty dollars an hour to work twelve hours a day and most would choose sitting at home.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Reminds me of a book I read years ago about a Soviet pilot who defected to the west. He landed his fighter on an airstrip in Japan in '79 I believe. He talked about Kruscheve and the communist party always talking about the "perfect communist". Which was an ideal really, something they were shooting for but had never achieved. Anyway he went to the U.S. and a few months later he was at a bar in San Francisco, I think. Anyway he overheard the bartender saying something about a drunk at the bar blowing his welfare check. He asked what he meant by "welfare". Well they guy doesn't have a job so the government gives him a check basically was the reply. The guy was astounded and remarked that the Americans had finally done it, created the perfect communist.
