Default Heres a great idea for the "5150"s 25th anniversary...

Do you think theres a chance "Guitar world" will do a 25th anniversary special on "5150"? I'd love it. They've done specials for alot of other great albums. Why not "5150"?? They could have interviews with Michael and Sammy, and special comments by Mick Jones and Donn Landee. They dont need Eddie or Alex (they would'nt be interested anyway). I think this would be a great idea around march/april next year. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure Ed would give a word or two about 5150 as long as GW rolled out a 10 page infomercial about the groundbreaking new EVH flip flops. They could put a timeline detailing all the signifigant breakthroughs in the design process. Matt Bruck could interview Ed and ask him all about the process of designing them and look on in awe while Ed rambles on about how many times he rejected them until they finally met his standard. That would be awesome.

Why would Guitar World do a special on an album and not talk to the guitar player on it? It's not called Singer World or Bass World...

There is talk of the Sammy era being remastered and LWAN going on Blue Ray and I think that will be about it.

5150 is pretty much a forgotten relic minus Why Can't This Be Love and Dreams. Don't get me wrong I love the album but outside the world of Van Halen fans, its not exactly a well known album, especially with the bands history of trying to forget parts of their history.

Maybe they will play it in its entirety when they tour next year.

I'd like to see a little publicity on 5150. Good idea.

Donn Landee doesn't give interviews, though. Not a very talkative bunch of people, all these cats.

5150 was the very first VH album - yes vinyl - i ever bought.
That's how i got into the band.
Was a display sitting right next to DLR's "EEAS" at Target in 1986.
I could have gone either way - think i made the right choice!

There's probably a better chance of Eddie coming out with a line of hair products
    than this ever happening.

I don't see Ed or Al being too keen on rehashing the Sammy era anytime soon.

I agree. I don't think we'd be able to get much from anyone about 5150 outside of Mike or Sammy. They'd be great interviews, though. I'd also like to see a Sheehan/Vai perspective on EEAS 25 years later. Probably not a lot of new factoids we've never heard before about either album but it would still be fun to read.

I can't believe it's been 25 years! My first concert was Aug 12th 1986 VH at the worcester centrum. I was 15 and in shock!

Why can't VH release a really clean live without a net and in the bonus features put all the MTV specials they did from that year in there. That would be so cool!
