    Default Trem Stopper

Has anyone used a trem stopper from say floydupgrades and achieved better sustain or any tonal benefits? I was just wondering if it helps to have another contact point on your floyd even if it's a flush mounted system in the first place...

    Hey!
I've never bought a pre made trem stopper, but I do make them. I do the same thing as another old thread on here and buy small hardware L brackets, and Allen cap screws. I reshape the bracket, drill and tap it, install the screw with locknuts, and they work great. For sound, yes, they make a huge difference in tone even with that small third contact point. The proof is if I press down on the bar with the strings vibrating just enough to take it off the stopper, it gets a lot thinner. Bringing it back in contact, you can actually feel vibration transfer through the body increase, and through the amp, you hear a more rich full sound. It's a good idea to install one weather you build it or buy it.

I have the brass trem stopper on a San Dimas.

I put it in with the big block and brass claw (from floydupgrades). It was a huge difference but mostly due to the big block.

I installed them all at once so I can't tell you what difference the trem stop had by itself. I can tell you that you feel the vibration in the trem stop if you touch it. It's also the easiest thing to install of the three.

The main reason I installed it is because I have a habit of resting on the bridge.
