    Default 5150 Combo Foot Switch

Well after about 10 soldering jobs, I think its about time to bury the foot switch that came with my amp. Actually I don't think its a choice.

Anybody have a good idea for a replacement instead of trying to buy an overpriced one from Peavey? Would like one that has at least as much length as the original one.

I think there is a guy selling them on ebay. Just search for peavey 5150 and they always come up. I've seen combo versions on there. I don't believe they have an attached cable either so you can get whatever length stereo 1/4 cord you want and use it with your footswitch.

weber amps also sells a cheap one that would work too, but I think it has the cable attached.

There are two custom made-for-Peavey on eBay in $40 range. I bought the "Voodooman" one to use with my combo and original head. It works great. Has LEDs. You'll need a stereo cable. It's the size of a small MXR (which is one of the reasons I bought it).

    ziggysmalls,

Pardon me for asking an off topic question on your thread...

How is the tone of the 5150 at "bedroom volumes"?

I live in an apartment and volume is an issue. My half stack is an end table to toss my keys on. Previously it was a sure fire way to invite the cops over. I use a line 6 which is fine at really low volume but otherwise has the tone of my hairdryer.

The 5150 combo is every bit as loud as the 5150 head. Even though it only has 2 6L6 power tubes, it is biased so much hotter that it's probably producing about the same wattage overall! So, it's not gonna be much different than you half stack.... You really need like a 1-5 watt tube amp if you really want something that sounds good at lower volume levels.

i was just thinking the same thing.
Arson:why not give the Blackstar HT-5 amp a try comes as a head with 2 1x10 cabs or combo, all tube tone monster and if thats still too loud they have just released the HT-1R which obviously is 1 watt with reverb,. don't let the price and size fool you, they are seriously good amps and more than loud enough for practice.

Yep I broke my switch years ago, I bought a really small one off of Ebay. I wish I could remember the name of it, but my pedal board is downstairs in the garage. Like others have just said, search Ebay for it, there's a guy that makes nice small ones in metal casings.

Actually I see AT posted it, yeah Voodooman that's it. Yep only thing you do need is a stereo 1/4 cable, keep that in mind.

mrjstudios, I was afraid of that but wishful thinking was beginning to win out. You know how it is, “Hey! I can play through a 5150 in my bedroom at night! Cool!”. My neighbors and my wallet thank you for the reality check. Thanks!

Tommywho5150, I will try ‘em out. I just checked the specs on the HT-5 head and that‘s what I am looking for. Thanks!

Ya, it would seem like maybe that would work out, but not at all. I've owned 3 5150 combos and worked on another, and they are actually LOUDER than my block letter 5150 head in a lot of situations. The first one I bought, I was hoping the same thing as you -- that it would be more manageable volume wise. But it turns out because of bias, both amps are probably putting out around 70-90 watts when cranked up stock.

With a bias mod to the head, and running it cranked is about the only situation where it seems to have a little more growl to it than the combo.

    Don't know if this will help your search but I saw these;

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...042#vi-content ($85)

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...371#vi-content ($29.95)

    mrjstudios,

Would you prefer to have the combo and run it into a 4x12 cab or the head?
