Default Does anyone have the Hagar-era Japanese remasters?

Does anyone here happen to have the "Forever Young" series of remasters from Japan? Trying to track this down on the net, peace!

Warner Bros really irks the hell out of me when it comes to their remasters of artists back catalogs. They always remaster them in Japan. Is there just not a big market for re-releases in the States anymore? They just did the same thing with the James Taylor catalog and I'd love to hear what those sound like as well as the 86 - 95 albums for Van Halen but I'm just not going to spend $30 dollars plus shipping to hear them. Really makes me mad.

    I have OU812 and 5150. Here's where I got them:

    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp. Just search Van Halen.

There is a Jack Panama on the links that bought the Japanese Sammy-era releases and he reviews them on page 11 of this thread:

    http://www.vhlinks.com/vbforums/van-...t26433p11.html

    Also if you go here:

    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/

and search for Van Halen 5150, etc. you will see the items and his reviews on that site as well. I've been tempted to pick up at least 5150 and OU812 myself.

I have them. I have to say that the Hagar releases are definitely an improvement over the original releases while VH3 sounds about the same.

Yeah, I have all five remasters.... 5150 & OU812 are nothing short of a revelation. Unlawful Carnal Knowledge sounds pretty much the same. Balance is a decent pick-up as well since it comes with Crossing Over. VH3 still sounds bad (talking about the production & not the songs themselves).

I've done a few trades with others here. If interested, shoot me a PM.

I have all 5, and in my opinion, they are true remasters in that the bass in OU812 is actually audible. I've increased the gain on the official US releases and they don't sound anywhere near as good as the Japan releases. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it, but these sound to me to be professional remasters.

Which catalogue numbers for these 5 titles? I need to update also, but there's a few pressings available in JP. Cheers!

I remember back in college that everytime we put either OU812 or And Justice For All on we had to tweak the EQ on the stereo, as neither one had any damn bass on them.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

In 1988 i used to listen to OU812 on vinyl!
    Imagine how thin that sounded!!
Still had that sweet sound though.
The very first CD i ever bought was OU812 in 88 also.
Thought it was so cool that it had a "bonus" track.

Also remember hearing the tail end of WACF on CD?
That was the first time we heard the whole ending - no fade out.
    I almost passed out!
    Man CD's were so cool.
    LOL!

From the same time period, KISS' Hot in the Shade and RUSH's Presto also had that lacking bass in the mix.

I have the 5150 remaster and I truly don't believe it is remastered, just has the volume turned up.
