Default RHINO Records has VH under "upcoming"

    http://www.rhino.com/?psid=goog/Rhin.../rhino+records

    12/13

    VH2
    WACF
    1984

Wonder if there will be some bonus songs? The 2000 remasters sound great, so I'm not sure why they are being re-released.

It reads to me like Rhino is simply taking over distribution of the WB catalog.

That makes sense, but why bother to list them under "upcoming releases"? If VH recorded a new album this year, pretty much in secret, is it not plausible that they may reissue the Roth catalog with some bonus songs without telling the public too much in advance?

If VH tour and release a new album, wouldn't now be a good time to try to repackage and re-sell the DLR-era albums?

If they do something like the Cure did--with bonus songs, demos, live tracks, and include a 30-page booklet with liner notes, I wouldn't hesitate buying these in a second.

The site doesn't say much--so I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but some kind of deluxe editions would be great. I only wish that the Sammy-era albums would get the same treatment.

VAN HALEN: 'Best Of (1978-1984)' Gets New Release Date - Feb. 5, 2007

BLABBERMOUTH.NET can reveal that Rhino Records has pushed back the projected release date of VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era, to March 27 from the previously announced March 13. The album, which coincides with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, contains over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984". Highlights include "Runnin' With The Devil", "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and "And The Cradle Rock". Also featured are "Everybody Wants Some", "So This Is Love" and "Oh, Pretty Woman". The CD booklet will contain rarely seen photos and liner notes.

"Best Of (1978-1984)" tentative track listing:

    01. Runnin' With The Devil
    02. Eruption
    03. You Really Got Me
    04. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    05. Jamie's Cryin'
    06. Dance The Night Away
    07. Somebody Get Me A Doctor
    08. Beatuiful Girls
    09. And The Cradle Will Rock
    10. Everybody Wants Some
    11. Mean Street
    12. Unchained
    13. So This Is Love?
    14. Where Have All The Good Times Gone
    15. Oh, Pretty Woman
    16. Dancing In The Street
    17. Jump
    18. Panama
    19. Hot For Teacher

VAN HALEN released a statement last Friday (Feb. 2) saying David Lee Roth will come back to the band for a summer tour of North America. The 40-date trek will mark the first time since 1984 that Roth will perform with Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen along with new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's 15-year-old son). Eddie said in a statement, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."

VAN HALEN's 'Best Of' Collection Indefinitely Postponed - Feb. 22, 2007

Rhino Records has indefinitely postponed the release of VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era. The album, which was originally set to coincide with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was supposed to contain over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984".

The VAN HALEN reunion tour, which would have teamed the band with original frontman David Lee Roth for the first time in 22 years, was also postponed "indefinitely," according to Pollstar.com. Sources confirmed the news on Tuesday (February 20) after a number of radio stations began reporting rumors that the trek was in trouble over contractual issues. One source said that despite an announcement earlier this month by VAN HALEN's management that the tour was officially happening, a deal was reportedly never finalized between the band, Roth and the tour's promoter, Live Nation.

No dates for the tour had ever been revealed, but there were rumors that it would begin in Las Vegas in late April.

VAN HALEN will still be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12 in New York City.

    Good point.

I called up the RHINO hotline and they didn't have any information.

It would be great for their fans for VH to actually release re-masters with Bonus Tracks like "Let's Get Rockin'", "We Die Bold", "Eyes of the Night", etc. with some cool pictures and liner notes about the writing and recording of the songs.

Therefore, there is not a chance in hell that they do it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

I remember a few years back THE INSIDE reviewed, I think it was a WB demo, and they said some of the unreleased songs were as good as anything from the studio albums.

Imagine a VH show that looked like this:

    1/3 classic VH
    1/3 new songs
1/3 unreleased songs from the 70s-80s, like "We Die Bold."

That would be better than making love to Angelina Jolie.
