Default Epoxy Primer, topcoat, etc. Question

I'm workin on a guitar right now that I'd really like to have a pro 'factory finish' look to it, or at least be close. I know a lot of people use epoxy primers to put a 'shell' on paintjobs like this... Anyone know of a good epoxy primer IN A CAN that could be topcoated with auto paint, like duplicolor?

    thanks in advance...

    Hey MRJ,

I've never used it in a can so try at your own risk - HA!

The only 2K epoxy primer that I've seen online is at Eastwood:

Personally, I feel that the primer alone won't give you the results you seek. The clear top-coat is just as important. You can get 2K clear in a can but I don't think it's compatible with a lacquer based paint like duplicolor. You could always use a Preval sprayer to spray your base and use the 2k clear over it. The professionals at Eastwood are more than happy to answer questions regarding their paint products.

    Clear:

There's a lot of trial and error using a paint system and I would hate to see you waste your money if it doesn't work. Also, If you do decide to try it, just make sure you have a decent respirator - chemicals are deadly!

Thanks, that info helps a lot. I know that the primer isn't the only factor in making a great paint job, but I've had troubles with that stage of the work in the past, so I'm thinking that's where I can improve the most.

I think I've seen one other epoxy primer in a can, so I'll take a look at that one if I can find it compared to the one you posted.
