Default Youtube vid: NAMM 1996 - Peavey Wolfgang content

Just ran across this awesome vid from youtube. I never have seen it posted here before, but forgive me if it's old news:

This really takes me back to the days before the Peavey Wolfgangs came out. The hype was enormous and it seems like it took FOREVER for the Peavey dealer around here to finally get one. It was another three years after they came out till I was able to get mine, but it was well worth the wait.

Man...such potential. Some of those riffs could've been made into great songs.

Very cool, thanks for sharing! He plays what will end up being the chorus of "It's About Time" around 8:45 in. Lots of other cool little riffs in there...even when the guitar goes out of tune.

I also heard some "Year To The Day" solo bits in there as well.

Sorry for doing the obvious and making a statement based on both nostalgia and regret... That was January 1996, when VH was just off the Balance tour and about to do the Twister soundtrack and Best Of songs. Meanwhile, we all thought VH would keep rolling along and doing what they'd been doing--putting out albums and touring for each. Six months later: clusterfuck. Ugh. All that was lost. All that could have been.

Sober and he hadn't lost his mind yet either. It was a good combo.

This is when Ed's playing was at it's peak in my opinion. How crazy that this guy would oficially morph into "looney Ed" soon afterward. Who knows how many riffs/song ideas form this era are laying in the cobwebs of 5150?

This is everything I loved about the guy, the killer rhythm playing, killer chops and the cool kid attitude. What a shame it would end up the car wreck it did.

A tip of the cap to the guy who came out of the audience, and gave a great account of himself.

I never realized he was using so much gain around this period that he had to constantly kept the strings muted that he wasn't using. The guitar just wails with feedback when the strings are let go and its volume is turned up. The guy who played Ed's guitar posted his name in the youtube comments. Gotta hand it to him that he did quite well right in front of Ed. Pretty nuts taking a guitar that was set up for someone else, using his amp settings, etc. and playing that well on the spot.
