The thing about this movie is that it should have been a limited run series. too long for one sitting given the material. Ironically, Scorcese was critical of the blockbuster super hero things not being "cinema" but they are more cinematic than this film. Those films beg to be seen on a big screen whereas something like this is more akin to some of the mini series on today like Ozark or Winds of War from the past. If the Godfather films were being made today, they would be a Netflix or amazon series Think about it, they were based on novels that were kinda/sorta pot boilers. The original reviews of The Godfather in the NY Times said they were a fast read for when there was nothing good on TV

Oh and yeah, the de aging was disappointing. It was necessary for the story, and not a gimmick but the distracting and less than successful way it was done, really takes you out of the story. It deadened the actors performance. At it's best it was distracting and at its worst it was like watching an old school Disney attraction where a film is projected onto the face of an animatron

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.

Straight to dvd sequel (if I'm not mistaken?) of the old Jennifer Love Hewitt horror movies. Pretty forgettable for the most part, with a new cast and villain. Brooke Nevin (Canadian actress) is pretty hot, though!

I 100% disagree with the headline. Those are using deep-fake technology and as cool as it looks, it’s like DeNiro is wearing a mask of his younger face. It’s not his actual face, if that makes sense. Over the course of that YouTube video it begins to be quite jarring and it looks like a video game.

That’s just my opinion. I wouldn’t change anything about the movie. I waited 13 years for it and it surpassed every expectation for me. The de-aging was a bit weird in some shots but for the most part it was spectacular to me. To see DeNiro look like he was 40 again was pretty righteous.

But regardless that deep-fake technology is a definite game change when it comes to stuff like this. Downright scary what they can do with it.

“Dark Phoenix”. It was ok, but those movies confuse me. Probably the multiple casts and story lines. Probably best to watch them as single entities

We watched "Joker" on Saturday night. I can definitely understand why this movie is getting the positive buzz it's getting. Just a great movie all around with an incredible performance.

I've got to say, though, I thought for sure there was going to be something about the "super rats" that was going to appear later in the story. It seemed like such a strange thing to include when it really posed no relevancy to the story. They even had giant rats running around in the background in some scenes.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I would disagree. I thought it was God awful, as most of the X-Men movies are. Amazing to me that they can get Guradians and Ant-Man right, but can't do good X-Men movies.

There are a couple good ones, but most of them suck (in my humble opinion).

you are probably more familiar with the characters and the stories and what they are supposed to be like, so that might have something to do with it.

I watched The Two Popes. While I am not Catholic, I do understand that polarization occurs with the last two popes. Typically if you like one you dislike the other. Anyway I thought it was a very good movie, wonderfully acted, etc That said, I did get a sense that the filmmaker or screenwriter pretty much hammered home that Pope Francis is right about his beliefs and the other is wrong. Again I understand the Popes are like Presidents today. Great acting though. Did a very good job with Hopkins and the other actor.

    Nightmare on Elm Street remake.
Darker and scarier than the original, IMO.

My beautiful GF and i just saw "Uncut Gems."

    We both absolutely loved it.

It's a rollercoaster ride for sure, no spoilers, and the ending is like, Whoah!
    Very clever script, for sure.

Loved Adam Sandler in this, but everyone was good.

The only thing my GF criticized was the score, as it sometimes seemed distracting.

saw the last terminator movie over the weekend. I honestly have no idea what the hell was going on.

I know they are trying to keep a franchise alive but c'mon already.

    John Wick 3.

Liked it. Less than the first two. Felt like maybe too much CGI - maybe it's consistent with the prior movies, but it just felt like there was more.

While it's best not to pick at these kinds of movies, it did bug me that when the guys were already down, and he couldn't shoot through their body armor and had to lift their helmets, he'd still shoot them twice in the chest and then go the head. I know the whole movie was gratuitous, but I was just kinda like "why's he doing that?", especially when he was concerned about running out of ammo. Then how about not wasting the two shots into the body armor on every guy when he's already down and out, and you're going to lift the helmet and scatter his brain everywhere anyway?

Sweet thing & the oldest son have been hammering tree rats, aka squirrels out the dr window the last couple weeks with the pellet rifle. Quite entertaining actually. Unless you’re a squirrel. Then you’re skittisas a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

    Joker

I'll admit that there was something magical happening between the time right after Gary gets murdered and the events that play out on the Franklin show. It seemed like an entirely different and captivating film.

Other than that, I was unimpressed with the rest of it and thought the way they wrote the Wayne's into the story was weak and undermining to the origin they tried to present here.
