Default MICHAEL ANTHONY Talks CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN In 93.7 KCLB ROCKS! Interview - 9-9-10

    Audio - http://bit.ly/95Ju0w

Earlier today (Thursday, September 9), Kevin Conklin of the 93.7 KCLB Rocks! radio station (web site) in Palm Springs, California conducted an interview with former VAN HALEN and current CHICKENFOOT bassist Michael Anthony.

CHICKENFOOT the rock supergroup featuring former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith tentatively plans to record its second album this fall, but Smith might not be behind the kit this time. Hagar told The Pulse of Radio that Smith's commitments to the CHILI PEPPERS could stop him from returning to the 'FOOT. "Chad's a problem, I'm gonna tell everybody straight up," Hagar told The Pulse of Radio. "To me, Chad is CHICKENFOOT. But Chad's, you know, the CHILI PEPPERS are, they've been writing for a year and they haven't even started recording, and I just don't see a window now. 'Cause once they start recording, Chad's never gonna be able to get a break, and then when they're done with that, they're gonna go out on the road for a year and a half. So we really don't know what to do right now, but I think we're gonna probably play with a few different guys and see what happens."

CHICKENFOOT's self-titled debut disc came out in June 2009 and was certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies.

Smith and the CHILI PEPPERS have not released an album since 2006's "Stadium Arcadium". The band parted ways with guitarist John Frusciante last year, replacing him with Josh Klinghoffer.

Hagar, meanwhile, told Billboard.com that CHICKENFOOT has four songs and seven other pieces of music in the works for its sophomore effort, which they hope to start recording soon.

The band will play in Indio, California on September 10 and Stateline, Nevada on September 11, and Smith is expected to perform at both gigs.

Good interview! But did he really think Mikey was going to pick between Edward and Joe?

Actually in that interview Michael Anthony is very gracious towards EVH, the most gracious I've heard him in many years. For him to be that way after all that went down, wow. Impressive.

my comment was meant ironic in a funny kind of way, maybe it reads differently but I do like Mike, and wish him the best, in CF or in any other part of his life, he actually sounds happy and that's what matters.

my comment about cf sucks is because I don't like the band, but hey thats my opinion, if that disturbed some people, I'm sorry.

    Peace

Mike is classy. That Ed vs. Joe thing- people should be smarter than to ask that question. Really, you know who you get along with, who you've known at different parts in your life and who you just gel perfectly with. Their styles may be completely different, but you cannot compare the two.

Well...yeah these interviews sound the same as the next one, but it's the questions asked. What's going on in the band?, What about your Hotsauce?, What are your feeling on the VH thing? Who did you enjoy playing with better/who do you think is a better guitarist?
I think he handles them very well, he always seems to be able to put a fresh spin on each interview.....and yes, he was very even keeled on the Eddie question.
Eddie's interviews as of the past number of years sound carbon copy.
I never thought I'd lose interest in an Eddie interview given his contributions to music over the years, but I guess I got tired of reading the "50 bucks, and a piano" reference. Iv'e got the last three issues of GW with him on the cover, and I don't think I've read any of them through. I get to that reference, and I'm just like " mehhhh..........again? Really?" I'm not knocking him, and I understand how the whole press communication thing works with management in this day and age. "You can ask these questions" etc. but it's time to drop that point for a while. it's done to death, and by now, there's not a fan who hasn't heard that on more than one occasion. It's a cool success story, and I'm sure Janie thinks it's an endearing thing to talk about to the press, but there's a hell of a lot more to talk about since that first 50 bucks and piano.

And there is your new album title: Van Halen: 50 Bucks and a Piano

I agree with you on this - I find Ed is so repetitive...kind of like his guitar solos.
