    Default Pick one

Ok, help me make a decision here.

I've started saving up my money for my next guitar purchase. It's going to be a quality guitar, one that I hope will last me a lifetime, and it's going to be my number 1.

Also, I'm a lefty, so my options are rather limited. I've spent years searching and researching the market for left handers, and I'm down to what I consider to be my best options. I can afford all the guitars on this list (still saving up though, just seems like the right thing to do). I am NOT interested in a cheap guitar, I want a quality instrument.

I absolutely want a Floyd, humbuckers, bolt on neck, maple board

Pick one, or give me an alternative I might have missed.

    1. Carvin C66 or Bolt Plus-spec'd out to my liking will be about $1300

    2. Suhr Pro series S5 or S6-about $2400 or so

    3. Charvel/Jackson Adrian Smith strat-about $2400

    4. Fender EVH Wolfgang in vintage white-about $3200

    5. Ibanez Prestige 1570-$1000

    6. Ibanez Joe Satriani model-$2000

    Please chime in.

If you like cool, rock music, check out REVERY. We've put out two albums, and an EP. We were signed back in '06 and toured the US (our single Popstar Wedding was all over the radio back then). Our latest album, Adora De Phonic is available on Itunes, Amazon, etc.

Take a look at GMW guitars. Lee garver will built you anything you want, at half the price, using the same exact parts and hardware as Chravel.

Carvin will give you the best bang for the buck and I doubt you'll notice a difference in quality of workmanship.

I play out and three of my main guitars are sigs.

The Andersons I've seen have been a bit pricey, like $3500 and above. The Wolfgang I find to be overpriced, and in another topic just a few days ago I swore I would never spend that much on a guitar, but here I am contemplating it.

Don't really play out but I may start jamming with some guys at work...as long as I'm not playing a Frankie replica I wouldn't have a problem playing a Wolfgang or something, it's a classic looking guitar and not immediately associated with EVH except by us guitar players.

Haven't checked out the Charvel custom shop...the Jackson custom shop is super expensive.

I know what you are going through, it is tough for left handers. Glad I checked in today...................I can build you anything you want. Everything we do will compete with any of the best guitars out there. I don't talk about it much here because this is a " van halen " oriented guitar site, but I am doing high end strat style stuff too. In fact my build partner used to build high end strat and tele parts for some top builders around the country and still does. He is a master CNC perator that has been cutting and designing guitar parts for over 15 years.

Also if you want a left handed wolfgang I do those too. I am building one right now for a left handed customer that has a hard time getting what he needs. He was stunned when he found me. Then he told me he has been wanting a custom left handed tele, when I told him we do all that too, he is ordering one of those also.

Bent tops, carve tops, every wood and neck option you can think of.................

I'm glad you checked in too Scott because I temporarily forgot about you. I'm going to drop you an email with a couple of my specific requests so you can give me an accurate price. Thanks.

I remember being worried about playing my EVH EBMM and my 5150 half stack out live in 1995.

And that's when i was a huge VH fan, now not so much anymore, still like them but no where near the fan i was as a teen and in my 20's.

And now i don't have a problem playing out with a VH guitar - i have a GMW 5150 clone now and just played it on stage last month.

The last thing i wanna do is play like EVH now a days so maybe that's why i don't care.

Myself id get a Fender strat with a Floyd, humbuckers, bolt on neck, maple board.

    +1
Can't beat a strat with a 'bucker and a Floyd perhaps THE most versatile guitar on the planet.
Or, if you wanna save a little money why not try something like the LTD ST-203FR, its basically a relic'd strat with Floyd, 'Bucker and also has a maple board, but it's dead cheap and would be an easy option for serious upgrades

I agree with the strat plus humbucker theory. Nothing sounds quite like a real strat, and the humbucker makes it pretty versatile for playing out.
