Default If a Van Halen album were a James Bond film

Until a new tour/album is announced....

Van Halen- Dr. No: The first one that introduced fans to the franchise. Connery/VH got better, but this is the prototype that set the tone and key elements.

Van Halen II- From Russia With Love: The second installment. Not quite as exciting as the debut, but a fine-tuning of what works.

Women and Children First: Thunderball/For Your Eyes Only. More meat-and-potatoes. Not the very best, but better than most of the later-day stuff.

Fair Warning- You Only Live Twice: An underrated film/album that is beautifully executed and a fan favorite.

Diver Down- Diamonds Are Forever: A reaction to the lack-luster sales/response of what came before. In both instances, the Bond filmmakers and VH go for something more tried-and-true and commercial.

1984- Goldfinger: The apex and definitive album/film of both respective franchises.

5150- GoldenEye/Casino Royale: A reboot and rebirth. Maybe not as good as the Roth/Connery eras of the franchise, but something fresh and a shot in the arm.

OU812- Tomorrow Never Dies/Quantum of Solace: The second installments of the new eras. Not as good as the first and a little dour, but successful.

F.U.C.K.- The Spy Who Loved Me/The World is Not Enough- The third installments of the new eras, better received then the ones before. Maybe not as good as the Connery/Roth eras of each respective franchise, but still solid.

Balance- Die Another Day/Moonraker: The fourth installments in the new eras, getting a little tired and formulaic, but still effective and successful.

Van Halen III- On Her Majesty's Secret Service: The joker in the pack. Not well received at first, but still has a cult following. Cherone and Lazenby's one stint with the franchise before their predecessors returned.

    Well thought out!

I quickly went to VHIII to see which one it would be. Nice choice.

Moonraker has How Many Say I written all over it!

VH4 = Never Say Never Again: An aging Connery/Roth in an unusual return to what made them a superstar. Repurposing old material, debate lingers as to whether they are legitimate incarnations of the franchise.

I was never hip on the Connery movies

But seeing as though they can't hold onto any lead singers

A view to Kill comes to mind for all the eras

All songs written and performed by:

Edward Van Halen: Lead Guitars, Backround vocals
    Sammy Hagar: Lead Vocals, Acoustic/Guitars
    Michael Anthony: Bass/ Backround Vocals
    Alex Van Halen: Drums/Percussions/Back Vocals
Sammy Hagars solos available on Geffen
Special Thanks to: Valerie, Wolfie, Sue, Kari,Claudio for introducing the RedRocker to us Al's Harem and kids, Elisha, Taylor, Kama/ all the fans past and present: all recordings done at "5150" where else! A nod and wink to Ed Leffler.
Irving Azoff/ All the staff at Warner Bros. past and present/ Gary Cherone for giving his all/ David Lee Roth for getting us there and oh yea Ray Daniels, for keeping the bathrooms clean during all the performances. Oh yea, your fucking check is in the mail and next time you whip your bullshit on us again, where taking your ass to Cabo and pounding mud up your ass till you cough up sand for the loss of 8 years. nuff said, IT"S 5150 TIME

If James Bond had a Van Halen Soundtrack:

    Goldfinger Inside
    A View From Afar
    Black and Blue Eye
    Thunderball Eruption
    Feels So Good To Kill
    For Your Dreams Only
    So This Is GoldenEye?
    Big Bad Bill Never Dies
    Somebody Get Me Dr No
    You Only Live Right Now
    Cabo Wabo Casino Royale
    Diamonds Are Not Enough
Hang 'Em High and Let Die
    Sucker With A Golden Gun
    Die Another Judgement Day
    From Amsterdam With Love
    On Her Majesty's Poundcake
    Moonraker: Man On a Mission
Top of the World Is Not Enough
The Beautiful Girls Who Loved Me
    Everybody Wants Some Octopussy
Finish What Ya Started Another Day

"Die Another Day" sucked. I'm not really a fan of the Hagar era but I would imagine "Balance" is a little better than that.

Die Another Day is the absolute worst in the series if you ask me. What an awful excuse for a Bond movie.

OHMSS gets a bad rap because of Lazenby. It was actually a really, really good movie. It wasn't an abortion like VH3 was.

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

    VH1 should be Goldfinger.
    1984 is Diamonds are Forever.
VH 2 is the Spy Who Loved Me.
    DD is Moonraker.
5150 is the Living Daylights or Goldeneye.
    OU812 is Octopussy.

    IMO of course.

You must not think very highly of 5150.

I'd have to think hard about the rest of the pack but I'll peg Fair Warning as my Casino Royale and Balance as my Licence to Kill.

Die Another Day is ok for the first twenty minutes, and then it gets real stupid real quick.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
