    Default America in Color: 1939-1943

Some pretty amazing pics from the early 40's late 30's.

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured...939-1943/2363/

Unreal how much has changed in really not that long of a period of time.

    Thank you, nice link...

Those images prove that so much is taken for granted these days...

Wow, thanks for sharing this. These are fascinating! It's not often you see this era visually documented in color prints.

They also show that there is a warmth and depth in film that digital has yet to really capture.

very nice. Would like to see some of the photos that show "places" compared with photos of what those places look like now.

Had to stop and study every one of these photos. The construction of the Shasta Dam, dropped my jaw. As did the final picture in the lot. Breathtaking stuff.

Amazing to stop and think that many of the children in these shots are probably still around today. Would be interesting to know what became of them.

Great pics. Cool some of the things you see in the background of the pictures.

Picture 20 looks like kids wearing there Sunday best for choir program, but many were shoeless.

We are fortunate in these times.

I know, some of the background stuff was cool. I noticed an ad for beer with a black butler on it with a tray of beer serving it. That probably would be a no go today.

Loved the kids pics, especially the ones all asleep on the bed. Also how dirty they all are.ha. My kids gripe about it being too hot to go outside.

Man, this stuff is bad-ass. I could sit and look at this all day long. Just trying to imagine what it may have been like.
    Good thing to know:
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Awesome shots, thanks for the link. I'm a huge history nerd which explains why it's my minor. On campus at MSU, our oldest building is from 1899 and it's a real trip to walk in there or even past it. Even with the modern upgrades it still has that wonderful vintage atmosphere. Unfortunately, it's slated for demolition in two years.
