    Default 500K EVH bourns

Just wondering if anyone bought a 500K EVH bourns pot? I recently bought one and with the exception of the solid shaft and EVH branding, it's exactly like (aesthetically & friction) the $2.75 low friction bourns sold by Mouser. Haven't wired it up yet - wondering if anyone using one can comment?

This is about the same price I paid for mine:
    eBay - $9.50 shipped

You can buy the same pot without his name on it. Granted even those aren't cheap. I buy them in bulk now for all my builds. They are super smooth. Great audio taper. I use the split shaft 500k in the black casing.

I think the meanstreet guitar parts website still sells the non-EVH-branded ones. Not cheap, but better. I think they are worth it though -- great smooth feel without being 'loose'.

For the record, I played a EVH Wolf today, and the pots were nice and smooth, but felt 'wobbly' compared to my non-evh brand ones.... perhaps there is a slight difference?

Do you buy this Bourns part number: PDB241-GTR01-504A2 ($2.75 @ mouser)

Bourns Plain shaft number: PDB241-GTR02-504A2 ($2.75 @ mouser)

The Bourns pots I've bought in the past (for, on average, $5 each) are the fastest low-friction pots I've ever encountered. I can't imagine what difference the EVH version offers.

That's why I bought one - to see if there was a difference in friction and to see if it was made different. The Bourns Pots that I've bought have a 15000 rotational life. There is a special order 500K & 250K low friction pot that has a 500,000 rotational life. Don't know if his brand is a 15K or 500k life span? It feels the same - friction wise - as the $2.75 pot.
