I wished they'd have put out the complete show from that night. They cut a lot of good stuff out of LWAN. I haven't watched that DVD in years, is that on there or is it edited out?

That was from the MTV awards. They cut that out along with Good Enough, YRGM and I forget what else. Shit that was a good summer!

Andy posted the song as one he had played on.
Sounds like him on the solo.

There's a whammy bar part around 4:30 that sounds like the stuff he did in The Power Station too.

Andy & Robert were in The Power Station together too.

Eddie Martinez is an American guitarist who mainly functions as a session musician. He has worked with David Lee Roth (on Crazy from the Heat), Run-D.M.C. (on Run-D.M.C. and King of Rock), Robert Palmer (most notably "Addicted to Love"), Meat Loaf (Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell), several Jim Steinman projects, and many others. He also played jazz guitar during Blondie's Farewell Concert in 1982 in Toronto.

Yeah, I'm very familiar with Powerstation -- I love that band!!

Maybe Andy Taylor did the solo or some overdubs. I remember reading an article though about the session that Eddie Martinez did for that song, so I know he's on it.

    first of all, that's sweet.

secondly, can someone explain to me why the powers that be edit so much stuff out?

whether it's 20 seconds out of the intro to Sweet Child of Mine on the radio version or the hour or so they cut out of Live Without A Net. what the fuck or they gaining. what could it possibly hurt to leave that shit in? i can see on radio if it's a way long song and it's not satellite radio, they want more time for advertising i guess, but 15 seconds of Sweet Child of Mine? is that really necessary? and the LWAN stuff was gold. wild thing? YRGM? all of it. do they save money on dvd space or quality? wtf?

    Exactly.

I hate when your jammin to a tune on the radio and you expect the next guitar riff to come in and then all of the sudden you're back to the third verse. You're like: "Heeeeey...what the fuck?" Then I get pissed and change the station as I continue mumbling explitives about radio stations and record execs

It reminds me of that old Billy Joel song Entertainer:

    I am the entertainer
I come to do my show
    You’ve heard my latest record
    It’s been on the radio
Ah, it took me years to write it
They were the best years of my life
    It was a beautiful song
    But it ran too long
If you’re gonna have a hit
    You gotta make it fit
So they cut it down to 3:05
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Pretty lame. I would have preferred that Sammy would cover "Mean Street" than a RP tune.

you dont' know anything about the history of why they did this then.

they started screwing aroudn backstage and Ed started playing ATL early during the tour backstage. they ended up playing it every night before they went on to get pumped up and in the mood to play. it was kinda thier thing on that tour.

if they ever get together with Sam again and record I'd like to hear them actually record this in the studio for 2 reasons. first it's great when they do it. second it would help to remind them of the way they felt during the 5150 era when they were all friends. youi can't change good memories.
