Damn this was a great album. They were at the top of their game.

Very nice version of that clip there I say. Actually, it might be the best quality I've seen. Outstanding.

All four members of Van Halen firing on all cylinders.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

I still remember buying this album when it came out. With the internet and all of the leaks now we've lost that innocence, that feeling of truly not hearing something until it's actually in your hands. I put the album on the turntable, stereo cranked of course, and was blown away by the intro of Mean Street. I had been playing guitar since 1976 and once again after hearing this intro I thought I should give it up! The first time I had those feelings was after Van Halen 1 was released in '78... It's pretty tough for someone who's only been playing guitar for two years to recover after hearing Eruption for the first time.

We've all talked about the outstanding musical performance of the band (more particularly Ed). I think we can also agree on the incredible "mood" VH created on Fair Warning.

I actually always thought DLR sounded a little hoarse on that version of HAIL.

Maybe that was later in the show.

Maybe he had just finished his battled of Jack.

    Who knows.

Fair Warning is a better album than 1984.

1984 has become my least favorite DLR era album. Not that I don't like it, but it is soooo overplayed, and it has an automatic skip song on it, Jump!

I agree with everything you say DD, except that Diver Down will always have a leg up (or down) on all other classic VH albums.

You can hear the influence Allan Holdsworth had on Ed's playing on Fair Warning.
"Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."
