Default Saw this and thought of VH's current situation

It's been done before. Granted, we can talk about the circumstances back then, the differences, ages, the actual desire to get back into the spotlight, etc. But I saw this on rhapsody and thought of VH right now. John out of the game for 10 years, comes back with a hit and is right back in. VH out of the spotlight for a little over 10 years, will they come back with a hit and get back in the limelight?

John Fogerty's Centerfield 25 Years Later
Centerfield was John Fogerty's first comeback album -- and boy, was it a monster. Living far outside the commercial spotlight for over a decade, the former CCR frontman released the album in 1985. The timing was perfect. Boasting two huge hits, "The Old Man Down the Road" and the title track, Centerfield put the classic-rock legend back on the map.

    Anyway, fun to think about.

    ^^^

    That would be a gas!

I kinda like the idea of him dropping a couple of tunes on itunes or Amazon though. Maybe even doing just an EP like others here have suggested.

As do I. I just think putting out a full album is not something Edward is interested in. I could be wrong.

Put out a coupla/three new tunes, then hit the road again. Play some deeper cuts and some songs from the Sam era. Bam!

Unfortunately, as long as DLR is in the band that will never happen.

In his mind (just my opinion obviously) his term was so superior to Sam's that he would never do it.

There are a few tunes he could pull off, but not many. FWYS, Summer Nights, Top of the World, maybe. But it is a moot point to discuss, he won't ever do it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

It would be a blast to see them do a few Sam-era songs live with DLR on vocals. Of course it will probably never happen. I think he could squeak by on a few of them, as suggested. I was even surprised on the last tour that Ed got out the striped drill since that was Sam-era (Poundcake). FWYS with Dave also playing guitar- I like it!

    Lol. I was being sarcastic.

I really don't think we're gonna see a full 10 plus song album though. Just seems too daunting. I'd settle for a few new ones and then touring again. Just mix the set list up.

I've softened on my stance about needing a full album. Edward is never gonna make everyone happy.Too much has happened. There's no unringing that bell for some folks.

Forget Dave singing Sam-era tunes. I'm sure Dave is doing everything he can to get some new stuff out because he knows they can't just do another tour like last time.

I say there are artistic differences or a lack of commitment from Eddie holding it up (if there is any hold up -- because really, we don't know chit).

I doubt that the brothers could get Dave to do another tour without at least a few new tunes without something major changing -- like getting Mike back on board.

A new VH disk featuring Dave on vocals is a major coup for him. So you have to think he is doing whatever he can to make it happen.

Personally, I think part of the problem is the lack of creativity from a songwriting standpoint. That, and a major lack of interest on Ed's part.

After 2004 I thought Ed was gone forever. It's obvious he still very much has it. There are many precedents for acts making HUGE comebacks.
