Default A possible trade: your opinion...

I have a possible trade for one of the new transparent cherry Fender Wolfgangs...It involves a Peavey USA special flametop that I just bought, An EVH Charvel (Red, Black, White), and a cheap Ibanez acoustic that never really gets played. I really love the Charvel (I know, I know) but I've always had issues keeping it in tune, but when it is it rocks & to me the neck is smooth as butter. The Peavey is the whole reason I'm considering this trade...I like the fact that it's not a one-way guitar like the Charvel, You can get a great clean tone out the neck pickup. So I guess what I'm really asking is: In your guys' opinion, would the new Fender Wolfgang be that much of an upgrade to both of these guitars? There's no love lost for the acoustic, I'm just using it as a buffer so no cash is involved.

in my opinion...then no, the new fender wolf is pretty much the same guitar as the old one...same body shape etc...yeah the pickups are different the tuners are EVH branded and it has stainless frets, but does that really matter?...would the average person who see's you play it really be able to tell that you have a new guitar?....Don't get me wrong, i like the new Wolf, but the trade seems a little one sided to me.

Why is your EVH Charvel not staying in tune?
    It has a locking nut.

Maybe it just needs to be set up?

I wouldn't give up that much for one guitar...does seem sort of one-sided, imo..

I guess, per my favorite specs, there isn't ANYTHING about the new Wolf that I prefer over the Peavey/EBMM other than the even flatter neck profile and pickups.

The low-profile frets, per my playing "set of circumstances", would be absolutely horrible, regardless of the flatter neck.

Anything shorter than the Dunlop 6105s (NOT Warmoth) won't do for me. I don't have fat fingers. If one is truly "micro-plucking" the strings with their left hand fingers while doing descending runs, I'd have to think they'd feel the same, especially on a med-gain amp like Eddie used pre-Carnal Knowledge.

Dude- that is waaaaaaaaay too one-sided. You will get a Fender version at a cheap enough price later. Don't let GAS cloud your judgment.

I just saw a mint Dark Cherry Burst Fender Wolf on ebay for $2,600. You are giving up two guitars that are discontinued for one you can get anytime in a store. The only way I would pull a trade like that is if it was the opposite way around and I was getting an ax I love that is discontinued.

I think as more and more Fender Wolfgangs come out the prices will go down. You might also want to wait and check out one of the new Wolfgang Specials when they come out, if the prices are not to crazy. If you liked one of those you could sell your Charvel and have some cash leftover.

Actually, this is the one. But all of you have convinced me not to get rid of 2 guitars I know I already like...I'll be patient...
