Default Bristol Palin gets $15,000 to $30,000 in speaking fees

Opportunity knocks when you are America's best-known teenage mom, and Bristol Palin has signed on with Single Source Speakers to give lectures at $15,000 to $30,000 a pop, more lucrative than her current job at an Anchorage doctor's office.

The daughter is commanding less on the speech making circuit than mom Sarah Palin. The dropout Alaska governor reportedly gets $100,000 plus business or first class plane tickets for herself and "First Dude."

When it comes to family and parenting issues, however, a bevy of Seattle speakers - covering the ideological spectrum - can be hired for much less than either Bristol or Sarah Palin.

Dan Savage, sex advice columnist ("Savage Love"), parenting author ("The Kid") and editorial director at The Stranger, is priced in the $5,001-$10,000 range, according to the Keppler Speakers website.

The site includes numerous testimonials from Savage's campus gigs. It describes him as "the LGBT community's own Ann Landers" and a speaker who "appeals to audiences - gay and straight - because of his frank, forthright and funny discussion of sex and relationships."

University of Washington sociology professor Pepper Schwartz is also in the $5,000-$10,000 range, and is advertised on Speakers.com as a lecturer on "relationship topics," womens issues and parent and child issues.

On the right, former NFL quarterback Jeff Kemp is presented by Premiere Speakers Bureau at a $6,500 fee. The leader of Families Northwest spins anecdotes but also talks on such serious topics as "Why Marriage Matters" and "The Northwest marriage and family movement."
"Watch what people are cynical about, and one can often discover what they lack.” -- Gen. George S. Patton

    She talks about abstinence.

I wish someone would give me thirty grand to talk about abstinence.

    Here is my speech:

"Abstinence...it sucks. Now where is my money?"
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Man, I learned the wrong lesson in school. Apparently I should have gotten knocked up, dropped out of school and crapped out a bastard so I could get paid $15000 to $30000 to talk to people for a couple of minutes.

    It makes me sick...

Fact is she is a high school KID who was too stupid to think about the consequences when she had sex, and wound up having a kid. I really hope this falls flat, otherwise you are going to have this legion of kids who may may learn that it is okay to fuck up, as long as you can spin that around to something that makes money...

just because she asks for that much money to speak doesn't mean people are paying it. I'd like to announce that for $500,000 I'll speak to your group about the greatness that is me.

Isn't her mom against sex ed? I mean it does say something about her mother's parenting skills, having a teenage pregnancy in the family. But she's still the darling of the conservatives and the "tea party" people... puzzling, to say the least!

Because Palin has money. But what about the thousands of teen pregnancy in working class or poor families? Those will be forced to rely on welfare and on government money and will cost millions of taxpayer $. So very bad message to send to the country as a whole.

Agreed. I'd be doing it, too. Get the money while you can. Besides, anyone who shells out to hear her speak deserves to be fleeced.
