EVH co-wrote a Black Sabbath song on Cross Purposes

So, if you're like me, you start surfing the Internet to learn more about the life and times of Ronnie James Dio, and that just gets you curious about Black Sabbath. So you go over to the Wikipedia page to read about the constant line-up changes in Black Sabbath, which is just so ridiculously fascinating. And, then, in the middle of the section of the meaningless era between 1993 and 1996, you find this little tid-bit.

Under pressure from their record label, the band released their seventeenth studio album, Cross Purposes, on 8 February 1994, under the Black Sabbath name. The album again received mixed reviews, with Blender giving the album two stars, calling Soundgarden's 1994 album Superunknown "a far better Sabbath album than this by-the-numbers potboiler".[109] Allmusic's Bradley Torreano called Cross Purposes "the first album since Born Again that actually sounds like a real Sabbath record".[110] The album just missed the Top 40 in the UK reaching number 41, and also reached 122 on the Billboard 200 in the US. Cross Purposes contained the song "Evil Eye", which was co-written by Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen, although uncredited because of record label restrictions.[22] (Footnote 22: Sharpe-Young, Garry. "MusicMight.com Black Sabbath Biography". MusicMight.com. http://www.musicmight.com/linkto/artist/{3F545B39-F8C3-4439-90A9-F33EA37.)
I did a quick search on the VH only forums to see if this was discussed before, and I did not see a thread.

Did anyone know about this? Is anyone familiar with the song? Would anyone admit to buying a non-Ozzy or non-Dio Black Sabbath album?

*knew about it but I think Ed just gave tony the riff and didn't really do anything additional in the writing process.

*never heard it, I was gonna see if anyone put it up on youtube, I know you can find a bunch of sabbath stuff on there like from Headless Cross.

*I have parts of "Born Again" with the dude from Deep Purple on vocals, it's not great but a few of the songs are pretty good. Zero the Hero is pretty catchy. I also have one other cd....can't remember which one it is but I think Roger Glover is on vocals, there are about 3 decent fast rock songs, nothing fantastic at all. it's like very generic late 80's hard rock at that piont. I read tht wiki page and got really interested in how the band dynamics would change the sound of the music so I checked alot of things out.

    From your link:
Eddie Van Halen is uncredited as co-author of Evil Eye. He was supposed to play on the track, but scheduling conflicts prevented him from doing so. UPDATE: I was told in September of 2009 that EVH had nothing to do with this album at all.

    Im not surprised at all.

We can't get news from the present, so we're trying to get news from the past. But even that fails. We really can't catch a break, these days!

Agreed. I was so excited to find something that was "news to me", only to have the fact to be questionable at best.
