    Default Titanium Floyd Rose

It took three months of waiting, but I finally received my limited edition, all-Titanium Floyd Rose!
All the hardware pictured here is made from Titanium...

...and every piece is incredibly lightweight!
Two things I wasn't thrilled about- the string retainer bar was not included and the 32mm bridge block is way too short to be of use to me...
If any of you with recessed Floyds are interested in a 32mm Titanium block, let me know- I will give you a great price!

    Jimi-
Is cool and all, but I'm positive I can say this with everyone agreeing....does it live up to the hype? Is it really adding that much more sustain to the guitar? Let us know when ya slam it onto a guitar.
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!

You can anodise that Floyd using a 6 volt lantern battery, water and clothes washing powder. Google it if you're interested.

Josh, right now I just don't have the energy to contend with the inevitable onslaught of skeptical queries regarding the justification/need for an all-Ti Floyd Rose. Instead, I will post a video with the unit installed and I'll let everyone hear the difference.

Meanwhile, enjoy this scintillating thread where many fun and interesting questions regarding Titanium parts were pondered and discussed!:

Did you ever divulge your purchase price for the entire Titanium FR tremolo? I just checked the TiSonix site and a locking nut starts at $235...WOW! You could always have it melted down into a hip thighbone if you weren't totally satisfied with the enhanced tonal qualities - HA!

No. Ed Roman asked me not to disclose it.

I'm sure the $$ is not for the faint of heart. I can't wait to hear if it was worth it. Jimi, is this something that might be offered for retail or was this a one off?

    You'll know soon enough.
As for the price: Ed Roman originally had them listed for $695. If you contact Floyd Rose they will tell you $850. I paid less than half.

Thats a beautiful piece of hardware.

The durability is great, especially if you install it on your main axe. Parts never wearing or tarnishing etc is awesome. Since there is a tone/sustain upgrade, not downgrade, I think it's killer. Definitely overkill in a sense but if you are a big original floyd guy and have it on a axe you play a lot I see very practical benefits from it.

    Enjoy

Ya, I totally agree. Part of me thinks it's ridiculous, at least at that retail price, but then another part of me starts thinking how useful it would be on my main 'touring' guitars that I play live a lot. I take good care of my gear, but because of the way I play, various elements of my guitars take a real beating regardless. I'm probably gonna buy one of the nuts if the price comes down for my main guitar. I tend to overtighten things on floyds a little bit, and the regular floyd nuts and especially the screws get stripped out pretty fast. Even the locking blocks tend to get gashes from the strings over time and don't clamp as solidly, so titanium would be a huge benefit there. I've already equipped my main guitar with stainless frets, a dual graphite rod reinforced neck, long life low friction bournes pots, and lots of other stability and durability upgrades, so this would be the next logical upgrade if I felt like it was needed. (which I don't at this point)

I probably won't ever get the floyd itself in titanium, but I actually think it could be a worthy investment on 1 or 2 guitars that get played live and every single day. Especially if you make your living playing music.

I do kinda wish that this company would make a brushed stainless steel alloy floyd rose, as maybe a middle ground on quality and price between the original Floyds and the titanium one. That I would be interested in.

The unit is destined for a Northern Ash Strat body with a maple/maple neck that has not been made yet so, it may be a while...
