    Default That Metal Show

I caught the show last night, Zakk Wylde was the guest. Eddie Trunk started the show off talking about Van Halen, saying their last album came out in 1998 and that they want new Van Halen. Trunk also quoted Eddie from the Guitar World interview about new music.

I saw that as well. I also liked how Trunk extended Ed an invitation to come on his show and talk about it his reasons for not doing new music, etc.

All 3 of the hosts did have a point, though. We all know Ed has made it very well known in past interviews how he has "10 albums of new material in the can", but has only released 3 new songs, which were on the "BOBW" compilation. Now, Ed is complaining that he's unhappy with the state of the music industry (who isn't, right?) and he's reluctant to release anything new.

Damn, dude...either shit or get off the pot (which, according to him, is where all of his great ideas come to him anyway).
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

well they just released 2 new shirts from 1984 so that should keep all of the fans happy for a few years.

honestly, it's been so long and everything surrounding this band is so fucked up I don't even know if I would be excited about new material.

Shit. If Ed actually made an album I'd buy it even if it was VHIII quality. It's a big step for him.

seriously, when they were playing clubs, they didn't have two dimes to rub together and it wasn't about the money, it was about the music.

Now, unless they invested heavily with Madoff, they have all the money they could ever need, so now it COULD once again be about the music...and although the music industry is in upheaval, technology allows for many new ways for music to be independently marketed

I would think that would be a very freeing position to be in.

I recorded the episode last night and will watch it today. It's good Eddie Trunk and the boys are calling VH out.

To think of the pettiness of all things VH-related, the day after RJD passed away... it now seems all so childish and irrelevant. One day you're here, the next you're gone. There really is no time to waste.

I get tons of RJD updates on FB, I wasn't really reading them all over the last few weeks but it seems that he recorded 2 albums, is remastering all of his stuff and has video's coming out. How cool is that? a guy on deaths door is working hard to make sure his fans are happy and EVH just rots away at 5150 thinking everyone on the net has no life.

    He's right in that aspect.

if he is unhappy about the state of the music industry then he should do something to change it. Heck, he has a social responsibility to.
