    Default 7 years old? WTF?

This just isn't right. What parent in their right mind would allow their child to do such a thing?

All The Single Children: Why YouTube, Sex Appeal and Kids Never Mix

    By: Allie Townsend
Topics: all the single ladies, beyonce, controversy, dance, viral video

Playing sexy? Children performing Beyonce’s “All The Single Ladies” in barely-there outfits is nothing to cheer about.

While the objectification of young girls has been widely tolerated in the name of “the spotlight,” will this video of five children put on display in bedazzled bikinis finally key parents into the danger of Lolita-izing their daughters?

The performance, part of the World of Dance competition in Pomona, Calif., last month, features two minutes of hip thrusts, high kicks and sensual strutting around a stage. No, it’s nothing Beyonce didn’t already do herself, but when has likening children to a 28-year-old superstar become a warranted excuse for objectification? This isn’t something kids should be doing in front of their bedroom mirror, let alone for an audience full of video cameras. It isn’t artistic, it’s raunchy. And its had thousands of views on YouTube in a matter of days.

Ask me to “lighten up” all you like, but I can see little other to this video than a group of promising little girls asked to take part in something that, at its core, just seems filthy. Children are not yet in possession of their own sexuality, and until they are, it should be protected, not put on parade.

while i can appreciate the obvious talents that these kids display, i would have thought some more appropriate costumes would have been far more sensible.

Oh you guys are just being silly. These parents are being proactive in preparing their daughters for their future job as strippers. Now how many parents really do all that they can to help their kids with job training.

poor choice of song, poor choice of costume, poor choice of choreography.........have we as a society become so immune to the hyper-sexualization of children that no less than 6 adults.. 5 parents, plus the choreographer, completely failed to recognize this as inappropriate?

Quite frankly the parents of these kids need a damn good warning by the authorities. In a world where paedophilia is rife, they need their heads examining. WTF are they thinking?

this is one of those things that likely sounded like a good idea to start but should have been stopped about a thousand times before it happened. Someone probably thought "hey wouldn't it be cool for them to dance to Single Ladies?". Ok, song seems kind of out of place but I could get the cute factor with a bunch of kids. It's when the "and let's dress the girls like a bunch of sluts" gets mentioned that someone with half a brain should have stepped in thought maybe this wasn't the best idea. Not sure who's the most to blame here.

I cant believe there are people commenting on this that are berating those who object!! FFS... these are babies that are dressed like adults and given adult provocative moves to perform. One tried to equate this to being on a beach with a bikini on... totally different ball game. Some people need a damn good slap!

I watched 31 seconds of the video and stopped.

If I was a father and my daughter was in that performance and my wife knew about I would be so efffffing pissed. If my wife didn't know about it the teacher would be in for an ass kicking.

Pedophiles all over the world are downloading this video for enjoyment.

I have been to a few of these dance things...some of my kiddos friends compete... and this doesn't surprise me at all. I have seen some of that and worse in my opinion. I tell her all the time.. I would never let you wear that or do that on a stage. Little girls are being pushed to grow up way to fast!! I refuse to go to any more of those shows. Shame on those parents.

    Agreed. Same here.

I don't really know what to say about stuff like this. I have always hated the idea that it's so much more important to "win" than to have kids do the right things as they grow up. If I had a girl, and she wanted to do this(and if I knew what it was going to be like ahead of time) there is no way i'd let her do it. It's not the dancing part of it that bothers me, it's the way they followed some of the moves from the vid of the song. Now, same song, with general dancing wouldn't be so bad.....AS LONG AS THEY WERE WEARING A BIT MORE CLOTHING. It's not like they're going to the beach and playing in the water. They have a fucking audience sitting in front of them watching their every move.

    IMO:
To me, this isn't a whole lot different than the child beauty pageants. I know it's not the same thing, since there is more involved with the dancing, but still...there's a line that I just couldn't cross as a parent.

The child beauty pageants kinda make me sick ,and so does this to a point.

    It's a good thing I don't have a girl.
These parents let their girls do this stuff(and probably encourage it) and could give 2 shits if they grow up safe or not.
Maybe i'm just old school, but I would NEVER let my daughter do this. This isn't just "dancing". These days, with exposure, there's so many sick bastards that ARE going to see this video, and would it really surprise anyone if something happened to one of these girls?
    Good thing to know:
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
