    Default Ozzfest 2010

Ozzfest 2010 is official! It's coming.

Unlike previous incarnations of the tour, which saw it run throughout the entire country for a month, or more recently just be a destination festival, this year's version will run for about a week and feature a very eclectic lineup to say the least. Without further ado, here is the lineup:

    Main Stage
    Ozzy Osbourne
    Mötley Crüe
Rob Halford (performing solo, Judas Priest and Fight material)
    DevilDriver
    Nonpoint

    Second Stage
    Black Label Society
    Drowning Pool
    Kingdom of Sorrow
    Goatwhore
    Skeletonwitch
    Saviours
    Kataklysm

Not an incredibly impressive lineup. Does anybody still care about Motley Crue? Also, Nonpoint is still around? Same goes for Drowning Pool? Ultimately, this seems very skippable for me.

See, the thing I realized a few years ago is it doesn't matter if Ozzfest is a strong or weak lineup. Most of the time, people just BBQ in the parking lot and get drunk all day and then come in right when Ozzy comes on. He is without a doubt the draw.

There are only six shows on the entire Ozzfest run, most of them on the east coast:

Sat, Aug 14 – San Bernardino, CA – San Manuel Amphitheater
Tue, Aug 17 – Chicago, IL – First Midwest Bank Amp.
Thurs, Aug 19 – Pittsburgh, PA – First Niagara Pavilion
Sat , Aug 21 – Hartford, CT – Comcast Theater
Sun, Aug 22 – Camden, NJ – Susquehanna
Tue, Aug 24 – Boston, MA – Comcast Center

You have to wonder why the tour is so short this year. Could it be from the incredible amount of competition the tour is facing from the likes of Summer Slaughter, Mayhem Fest & Warped Tour, American Carnage, The Cool Tour, etc.? Or could it be that Ozzy can only go for a week and then needs a break? Notice there are only two back to back shows and the rest are very much spread apart.

Will you be attending this year's Ozzfest?

    Black Label! Kind of surprising.

Wow.... I really expected alot better coming from a year off. I am thinking BLS and Drowning Pool should be on the main stage instead of what is there. I have been to the past 4 Ozzfests.... this is prob not one I would be dying to go to. Def would not travel to east coast to see it.

Fuck me, there are actually bands called Goatwhore and Skeletonwitch?
If this isn't a joke, I'm officially over the hill - and I like it here. I've never been to an Ozzfest and won't be starting now...

That said, I thought Oz's voice sounded great on his new 'Scream' track.

It's no surprise that the line up sucks. They waited long enough to put it together. Most of the traveling festivals like Mayhem were booked months ago. With just about every rock/metal band already touring or committed to a summer festival already, what Ozzfest is basically offering is either a bunch of washed up acts or bands you wouldn't want to listen to anyway. Even though it will be 20 minutes from my front door, I'm gonna skip this tour.

If Goatwhore and Skeletonwitch are the future of rock then we are indeed fucked and I'am glad I'am offically over the hill.

Motley Crue isn't very "Ozzfest" IMO. I was updating the Ozzy thread with news until I saw the lineup. I was pumped to go, but gonna go see American Carnage instead.

A guy just can't get good goatwhore anymore...

Actually, they weren't as bad as I expected. I expected them to be as terrible as Skeletonwitch. But I'd still be just as happy not knowing about Goatwhore.
And I'm afraid the stupid-band-name store is gonna be sold out next time I check.

Yea, Slayer, Megadeth and Testament should put on a good show. Megadeth is supposed to play RIP, and Slayer is gonna play Seasons in the Abyss

Takes a lot for me to say a festival with Ozzy closing doesn't look good, but this Ozzfest is just bad.
