    Noah's Ark found in Turkey?

    Noah's Ark found in Turkey?

The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000ft up a Turkish mountain, it has been claimed.

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say they have found wooden remains on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey.

They claim carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old — around the same time the ark was said to be afloat.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team, said: "It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it."

He said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals.

The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000ft in the vicinity, Yeung said.

Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.

The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was.

He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain.

Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.

When some non-envangelical explorers proclaim the same thing, I'll be far more convinced. No disrespect intended to these fellows or anyone else, but there is definitely a bias here.

again!? Shit how many times are they going to find this damn thing?

Every few years there's another article about some "evangelical archaeologists" finding the ark on top of a mountain.

Another silly, pseudo-scientific Discovery Channel "documentary" will surely follow.

I only hope that Turkey will allow a full achelogical dig on this site, that would truly be one of man's most fascinating finds.

I was thinking the same thing. Haven't there been expeditions going back decades that have claimed the same thing? Ark or not, it does make you wonder how the remains of a (large) boat get 13,000 feet up a mountain...

It has always been my understanding that this mountain is in a disputed area between countries and that access has always been limited.

That would certainly explain why there's never been an answer as to what is really up there...

I would LOVE if they have found the ark. The more that they uncover, the more it shows the accuracy of the bible.

To prove it's a legit find they just need to find a turkey in Noah's Ark.

Seriously, when I was in elementary school it was "understood" that "they" had found the ark on top of a mountain in Turkey.

All I'd ever heard was that they've think they've spotted, they think they know where it is, but they could never be allowed close enough access to actually look and verify.

I remember having a national geographic shoved at me in elementary school as "proof" that Jesus was my saviour because the cover story was about Noah's ark being found on a mountain...they had pics and everything.

Now, if this story is about finally getting access to the ark, then I think the writers did a pretty terrible job of conveying that because the article talks about discovery...not of finally receiving authorization to explore and get a closer look at a long-established finding.
    Stay out of it, dude.
