Default Hagar to play at Ribfest Naperville, IL

    Hagar to play at Ribfest

    http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/n...031510.article

    March 16, 2010

    From Submitted Reports
The Naperville Exchange Club announced Monday that rock legend Sammy Hagar will headline the second night of Ribfest 2010 on July 2.

Hagar's resume spans more than three decades; from the Montrose albums to his many years with Van Halen, and most recently, Chickenfoot. Hagar has collectively sold in excess of 60 million albums worldwide.

Rock legend Sammy Hagar will headline the second night of Ribfest 2010 on July 2.
    (Submitted)
Hagar joins previously announced performers Los Lonely Boys, Jonny Lang, and The Charlie Daniels Band at this year's event.

This is the 23rd year of Ribfest, the four-day festival held in Naperville's Knoch Park. A new layout to the park this year has enabled Ribfest to enhance the musical offerings on both stages, and expand the family and carnival areas.

Ribfest kicks off on July 1, operating daily from noon to 10 p.m. through July 4, culminating with the award-winning fireworks display. Barbecue lovers will enjoy ribs, pulled pork, chicken and sauces from dozens of vendors.

The festival also offers a variety of entertainment for any age. Families can enjoy a carnival, circus, inflatables, magic shows and more. The Exchange Club runs Ribfest with an army of volunteers so every dollar earned can be donated to the prevention of child abuse. For more information about the Exchange Club, visit www.exchangeclub.org.

For more information and the entire 2010 Ribfest schedule, visit www.ribfest.net.

Isn't it a bit confusing to have Sammy playing shows with both Chickenfoot and his solo band during the same year. Not that you can't be in 2 bands or anything, but I thought he would either do one or the other, but not both at the same time.

Hell, who cares, play where they will have you. Good for Sam.

Dave got a bunch of shit on this board for playing there, and I didn't quite understand it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Sammy is reduced to playing ribfests these days. Insert Dave and take out Sammy= same thing said a few years back
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

I think its cool. Sammy also played the Joint in Vegas in Dec......who gives a fuck as long as he makes music and people happy thats what performers do!

If the Foot is recording in April, the album probably won't be out by July, so I doubt this gig will interfere with any Foot touring at that point.

And I definitely remember Dave getting shat upon for playing ribfests. But I figure when a man gets his AARP card, he can pretty much play and sing when and wherever he wants, it ain't like the folks at MTV are going to be horrified.

I wasn't here (on the forums) a few years back, so I can't comment on that. But Naperville, IL is a big ass town with a ton of cash surrounded by other Chicago suburban towns with a shit-ton of people with coin. I can guarantee there will be more people for this show than Dave or Sam could play for just selling regular tickets. It's not a small/lame gig by any stretch.

Yeah, where have you been? You're confusing Sam with VH, my friend.

the jokes and comments were inevitable but this is a pretty big gig that I'm sure pays quite well. Charlie Daniels, Los Lonely Boys and Johnny Lang are going to be there as well. That's a pretty damn good lineup that just about any act would love to have. No it isn't Wembley but this also isn't some shithole town's BBQ cook-either.
    Stay out of it, dude.

Perhaps in order for Sammy to keep the Wabos on the payroll while he's with CF (which I assume he does?), makes sense to do some shows to make the payroll.

Whatever the reason, good to see him out and about.
Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...
