Since you're my buddy, I'll post....No, it doesn't seem like it's been that long, and if you really think about it, and pay attention...NOT ONE of the boys have aged one day since then.....Well, Sammy's gained some weight, but his hair's exactly the same, and I remember when I first saw Ed's new cut and goatee......I was FLOORED!!!! Never did I dream Ed would cut that gorgeous mane, but I'm sure glad he did! He wears it WELL!!!!

Sorry, I've told y'all before, hair is the FIRST THING I notice about EVERYONE.

I skipped the Balance Tour. Do I regret? Maybe, but not especially.

At the time, I was a junior in college and short on cash. I wasnít very thrilled with the Balance album. It was the first VH album that didnít floor me. At the same time, the alternative and grunge rock thing was in full swing. I was still a rock fan and listened mostly to it but newer bands were peaking my interest especially as far as attending concerts. I had also grown a bit tired of the same set list.

I think I would regret it if 2004 didnít happen and I unknowingly missed the last time Van Hagar performed. I know that there was a lot of criticism of the 2004 tour but I had a blast seeing the guys for the first time in 11 years and as far as my ears remember, they sounded great.

    Wow 15 years ago already!

I went to 4 shows on that tour and for the most part enjoyed them.
The only issue I had was starting some of the shows with 'Right Now'.
I prefer something more hard rocking.

I saw them in oakland, san jose & mountain view on that tour.

The oakland show got postponed because Eddie got busted with a gun in his bag on the way up.

I bought Balance when it was released but I purposely missed the tour, after seeing basically each tour prior to that except for 1984. Around that time I was losing interest and I thought I was better than that type of music. I missed the VH3 tour as well (but still bought the cassette), and I wish I would have gone from a musical standpoint. Those two tours were the last times we had the original Ed. Heck, on the VH3 tour he actually played I'm The One note for note, solos and all (now he just wings it). I'm happy to say that at age 46 I'm back to listening to pretty much only 80's/90's rock with some Chickenfoot thrown in of course. The "reunion" tour with Dave somehow knocked me back into alignment.

I really didn't like Balance that much at first, but it really grew on me.

Minus three songs I think it is some of their best stuff.

I thought the show I saw though was boring as hell. No energy whatsoever, like they were punching a clock to get back on the bus.

Reminded me of one of the bloated arena acts that VH used to blow off the stage when they first got started.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I was "forced" to skip the Balance tour because I was fresh out of basic training and starting technical training school. My wife and I made the decision that I join the USAF the year prior so we could get out of Barstow, CA. We were parents to a three-year old son and were tired of scraping by in a go-nowhere town with gangs, drugs, and custom rides. For the duration of the entire tour, we were just getting used to military life. We tried to sock some money away for tickets at one point, but a last-minute, unexpected expense came up and there went that idea. I really wished I could have seen it.

I was the same way. I didn't get Balance until a month after it came out because I was in basic. We didn't have Base Exchange privileges, no town passes...nada. There was no way to get the album. When I finally was able to get it, I put it on and wasn't very impressed. On first listen, I had the following thoughts:
    - "The Seventh Seal"? More like "Poundcake" with some different chords and post-apocalyptic lyrics. Not impressed.
    - "Can't Stop Lovin' You" was okay. Just okay.
    - "Amsterdam" was totally kick-ass, but the lyrics were kinda dumb.
    - "Big Fat Money" was pretty good.
    - "Strung Out"...WTF?
    - I liked "Doin' Time". It was a refreshing change of pace: a DRUM solo on a Van Halen album, but it incorporated all that additional percussion.
    - I fell in love instantly with "Baluchitherium", "Take Me Back (Deja Vu)" and "Feelin' ".

It took me about a month to like Balance as a whole. Now, it's one of my 11 favorite VH studio albums of all time.

That's unfortunate, but not the first time I'd ever heard it. I've never seen any video from that tour, but I have a couple boots from that tour ("Secret Gig", "Feelin' The Balance", and one other).

After all is said and done, I wished I would have seen them on this tour.

Got rear-ended by a drunk driver leaving that show. And the show sealed my disdain for Hagar.
They had essentially become the band Journey always wanted to be.

Balance has always been one of my favorites. I was hooked on it for the longest time. I saw the tour, and no, they didn't jump around a lot, but did pretty much nail everything note for note.

It doesn't?? Wow, for me that feels like a lifetime ago. My life was drastically different then and so was the existence of Van Halen. Dude 1995 seems like a hundred years ago to me.
