Toronto craiglist stuff is quite stupid at times. I've seen guys asking for $1200 for a 5150 head. Lots of ridiculous stuff...a guy looking for $700 for a Mexican strat when they don't sell for that price new, not even here in Canada where our prices are completely out of whack with U.S. prices.

I actually contacted Him this week..LOL..he said the Korean ones were the version of Custom Shop and were VERY rare indeed.. Not like the US crap that Peavey flooded the market with. He actually raised his price cause early this week it was ONLY 2000$..

i understand your point Andrew, but they serve a purpose, they give people who cannot afford a U.S.A wolfgang the oportunity to own a guitar associated with Eddie without having to shell out $1000-$1500(ish), however i would also agree they cheapen the name of the American made models and use inferior parts, what would have been better in my opinion, would to have not put the Peavey name on it or atleast called it like, i dunno, Kim Jung Il by peavey, like fender do with squire...i think that may have made the chances of being ripped off on places like ebay somewhat less and still maintained the wolfgang bloodline.

You just can't compare the USA and Korean models.

They are worlds apart but you all know that.

Same with the OLP and the EBMM.

at least Ernie Ball saw fit to call it OLP(not Music Man)...Peavey should have done something similar.

I agree they should have called the EXP something different. That would have made all the difference in how the EXPs have affected value of the USA models. For a long time I was frustrated to see EXPs selling for twice as much as they were actually worth--twice as much as what they went for new! But on the eBay market they just seem to be doing that well almost consistently. The USA flame top Specials--a superior guitar in almost every way--hasn't risen in value because of it. Frustrating. And then you get the posers who do minimal research and determine that, since their Wolfgang (EXP) has a "quilt top," it be one of those "rare early quilt tops I keep reading about." Stupid. The EXPs sold for as little as $425 new; they should be a $350-$450 used guitar. But dumb-asses see those quilt "tops" in fancy photos and pay twice what they should. Whatever.

The fact is there are many uneducated sellers out there who really have no idea of the value of their item. They think, well the new Wolfgang is priced at 3k so I'll sell my Wolf for 2K, that's the extent of the thinking that goes into it. I love Craigslist, I like to cruise around and see what's available, but more often than not it's filled with people who are looking to take advantage of a buyer...at least that's what I've noticed on the Toronto one. Buyer beware!

Never mind even when they first came out...

I still can't see for the life of me why the fuck anyone would
ever in their right mind spend over $500 on a KOR "Wolf."
Hell, $400 even seems pushing it, but it reminds me of that
scene in Trial and Error where Rip Torn's character sends em
a "copper engraving" of Abraham Lincoln...the humanity

Nevertheless you see these crazy fuckers spending what,
up to and over a grand for one of these posers?
    FUCK THE DUMB SHIT!!!!

I really think its a case of buyer beware...if someone spends $1000+ on a guitar without doing a bit or research on what version it is, then that's their fault. If I'm spending a good chunk of money on a guitar, then I'll find out everything I can about it before pulling the trigger. That said, I do have a Wolfgang EXP that the previous owner gigged with and therefore upgraded with a better FR trem and upgraded electronics..it's a fine guitar and cost less than $500 and is fine for the playing that I do. I'm not a professional musician and have a hard time spending a couple grand on a new guitar (other than a couple Gibsons)..so they do serve a purpose for some non-pro players. They're certainly not worth $2k or anything like that but I think sometimes they do take a little too much flak merely for not being US-built. If the EXP was US-built with the same components and at the same price-point, I doubt there would be as much derision for it. Don't mean to offend anyone, just my $0.02
