    Default Wah recommendations?

    Hi guys, I'm looking for some suggestions about which wah pedal to buy..I borrowed my brother's original Cry-Baby to try out and notice its not a true-bypass pedal and absolutely sucks all of the tone when used or even when its plugged in and not used. I Googled this and found this seems to be a common complaint with most wah pedals. I was thinking of a Slash wah as it has a distortion circuit built right in, but thought I'd fish around for any ideas....if anyone has any ideas, it would be appreciated....

    biggest problems I have with every wah pedal I've ever used is the drop in volume once I hit it and the way they colour the tone when not engaged.

    I've worked through that by using a really nice Hendrix wah I picked up and a BBE busta grande right afterwards. It's another button to hit when I use the wah but the clean boost brings the volume back up to par.

    I love the busta grande pedal...it's become one of the most important pedals I have.
    Stay out of it, dude.

    I've been pretty happy with the Morely Tremonti. It's optical so it's switched on as soon as your foot touches it and it has 20db boost so I don't have to hit my overdrive pedal first for a solo.

    Hmmmm. I've lucked out with my Crybaby. The only thing with mine is the click is pretty loud, but no volume drop on or off. Mine was from 91' and I know they did go through some design changes. Morley's I know are very good though.

    I've had quite and few and it really depends on what sound you are looking for;

    for my money my favorites have been;
    Fulltone Clyde
    Vox

    Right now I've got the EVH wah on there and in all honesty I'm thinking of taking the wah off my board completely. Its been so long since I've used it...

    I've been thru tons of Wahs, and ended up with the Budda Wah. It's one of the only ones that I found that worked really well with a lot of gain.

    Try it, and I bet it becomes the one you choose.

    The only other one that's caught my eye is the new Jerry Cantrell Wah . . .looks tempting.

    wanna try a evh one but have a feeling it will be kinda like the zakk wylde, same company isnt it?

    A modded regular old crybaby wah is REALLY nice. I have a late 90's model, and I removed the entire buffer circuit, and made it true bypass. Man what a huge difference. Like a whole different pedal, and now my amp's pretty much exactly the same volume with or without the wah turned on. There are instructions online how to mod them if you are into that type of thing...

    The Budda wah is outstanding...truly outstanding. All their gear is.

    The fulltone is phenomenal.

    I used a Vox for quite a while and was pleased with it.

    The thing I like about my Hendrix wah is how throaty it is. It really growls and gets gnarly when I want it to. It overdrives really well and doesn't have that ear-piercing harshness that some wahs have. It goes from buttery smooth textural to gargly throaty coughs and screams. It's a fantastic and versatile pedal.

    I use a Moreley that doubles as a volume pedal and find it to sound great and get the job done.

    I've been wanting to buy a volume pedal for a while now and i've considered that one but I'm leaning towards the kind used on pedal steels.

    I had one of those for a while... and I quickly traded it for a Crybaby. It just never sounded good at all through my 5150, and the switch was on the side of the pedal, not under the wah, so you had to take your foot off of the pedal, and reposition in to the side to kick the thing on and off.

    ive also heard great things about the budda and i know a lot of people really like the EvH, but i've not tried them.
