    Default MXR Chorus Settings...

Hey everyone! I was wondering what are some good settings for the MXR Chorus pedal. I have one running through the effects loop of my 5150 III and just wanted to see what some of you guys may be using. I also noticed that Eddie seemed to have one on his pedal board for this past tour. If anyone has any close ups of the settings he used and knows what he may have been using it for feel free to post it up!

Wonder what tunes he used it for during the Roth tour? Chorus was more of a Sammy Hagar era effect.

I'd swear that at least for the early part of that tour he was using the wah in a fixed position pretty much like an eq. His tone was very nasal sounding and this was while they were still experimenting with pickups in the prototype EVH Wolfgangs. I know when I saw them in Philly early in the tour I thought right away it sounded like he was using a wah in a fixed position. Then when I saw this pic of his pedal board a while back it made sense. In Hershey near the end of the tour his tone was nothing like that.

I too have wondered about the "fixed wah" sound. I've never heard a 5150 sound that way, except for when Ed uses them live.

You know it makes sense to me now too. I have the EVH wah, and a few practices ago, I was using it and I didn't switch it off when I was done. I didn't notice it until after the song was over. And I was noticing as it was on and I was playing that all of a sudden my 5150 sounded like Ed's nasally tone on this last tour. I didn't know how that happened of course, just figured my ears were going nuts from the volume...then I saw the wah still on...OH!!!!!

thats a cool pic man! Yeah Eds tone on this tour was different. I dont really get the whole EVH Wah thing...I mean he barley ever used a wah...I think I can count the number of times he used a wah in his solos on one hand...purely a money move

I saw them in Chicago, and I was amazed at how nazally his tone sounded. I'm sure it was the wah in one position... because I've played a 5150 III and I can't imagine it sounding so bad on any setting by itself. It was still a great show because the sound system at the venue is great, and Ed's playing was great too. I was surprised at how good Dave sounded -- better than 00'-06' for sure.

But I was glad to hear on bootlegs that Ed's tone greatly improved later on in the tour.

Alright man you did it- you achieved the EVH tone! Perhaps not the EVH tone you were looking for however... It just blew my mind that a multi-millionaire guitarist would resort to that old 1960's fixed wah trick to correct his tone, with all of the support that he has available to him. It wasn't just for a show or two either. The problem is that the yes men around him were probably telling him how great it sounded. I just tried to block out his tone (kind of tough where you're hanging on his every note) and I greatly enjoyed the overall energy of the Philly show.

Can anyone identify what else he has on his board?

is the Axess Electronics box for midi switching?

Looks like he is running the modulation effect before the preamp? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Does anyone know what the 2 grey boxes are and the black taped pedal on the far left?
