Default Boutique Plexi poll: D Bray vs. Metro or other

I'm looking for a good plexi (50 or 100w) that has master volume other cap/tube mods to hit VH 1 tone but not limited to VH tone. it should clean up well, play some Floyd with a single coil and rolled off volume. It should get that kick a$$ VH1 tone without peeling the paint off the walls. No live gigs so headroom is not a primary concern. It needs a line out for a wet run to a combo.

I like David Bray and Metro Amp so far.

Please vote and if your vote is other, please comment on what it is you like better.

    Cheers

I personnaly like the metroamp one..but the one built by them, with the high end compnent..OR..find yourself a real marshall from the 70's..the model right before the JCM800...it's to die for, i just got one, and it's heaven bliss..

Check out Granger amplification. He's fairly new. A good website and his clips are completely killer. From the research I've done so far he seems to be a good guy and his prices are very fair, definitely not helping my GAS.

._/ score alain! Those are nice amps. I had a 79' and the difference is huge from the early to mid 70's ones. They were pretty bright. After a while they got the message and used a different kind of bright cap. On my mid 70's Marshall's I usually clip out the bright cap altogether. Makes em' sound rounder like the late 60's models. You got pics?

YES YES YES!! +1 I have talked to Kurt Granger on many occasions, through forums, etc. He is a top notch builder and a good guy as well. He's given me a lot of free help and advice with troubleshooting amps.

Listen to his sound samples here:

That is a clip of one of his Marshall-esque clones. But check out the other amps on his youtube channel as well. Some AMAZING stuff there. If I end up making some $$$ from a music project I'm working on right now, the first thing I'm gonna buy after an expensive tube mic preamp is a GRANGER AMP!

so let me ask you - can these amps get 80s gain (Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Ratt, Jake E. Lee) by themselves when setup to hit the early VH tone or do you throw a pedal in front to get the heavier stuff?

Dude..Maiden USE to use those amps in late 70's and early 80's..they can do it all. unless you play it ALWAYS at 10..you'll need a overdrive...we all use them..
