    Default Chickenfoot Two-step?

I hope people donít find this post sacrilegious but I am seriously thinking that CF could have some serious appeal with the country music crowd. We always hear talk about country crossing over into pop i.e. Shania and Taylor Swift but I donít see why rock couldnít do the same.

A friend of mine who is a country music person, really liked SLT. The music video for SLT even looks country. Also considering that Sammy has been influenced by some of the country crowd over the years (just listen to Livin It Up) and even toured with Kenny Chesney, maybe it isnít a stretch.

Granted, the heavier rock songs wouldn't fly but SLT, MKG, and WIF might.

For this to happen, it would actively need to be promoted on the country side and some DJís in large markets willing to play it. Any thoughts?

I've had the exact thought myself about those exact songs. Many country lovers out there are just ex-rockers who didn't have anywhere to go once the rock crapped out as a popular alternative. Besides a lot of those country recordings are simply what pop-rock sounded like in the '80's. Some of that stuff is produced exactly like "Scarecrow" and other such rock.

    Uh...

Now, Blind, don't you go and give Sammy some ideas! I know what u guys mean in terms of production. But some of us rock fans, many of us, still turn the dial whenever something remotely countryish comes on the radio. And I don't like Taylor Swift. Nothing wrong with ppl who like country music, but I don't like anything country in my Sammy!

No no no. It's the other way around. Bringing country people to CF not the other way around.

satch can play anything, but I don't see him or chad having fun listening to sammy singing country rock.

I think the crowd they have right now, is exactly what these guys need. A decent hardcore following.

Plus I love that I can get 4th row center seats at face value. If they got big, i'll end up getting hosed and overpaying to a scumbag (ticket agency/scalper) to sit nowhere near 4th row.

Guys, I didn't mean in any way that CF should make country music. I am saying that their current CD could have some success amongst country music fans (and I'm not one of them) because there are certain aspects about it that would be appealing to them. This idea came to me when a "country music only" type guy thought that SLT was a pretty cool song.

the appeal could be there...agreed. But we really don't want to see CF pull a 'bon jovi' and become a country band...please no.
...and in the end, on dreams we will depend...

I always thought that Jon Bon Jovi stole John Mellencamp's bit more than anything else, right down to the same haircut.

I think they could put out music that would still be very much Rockin' but could really appeal to the country music crowd. I come accross a country station every once in awhile and I like some of the songs...hell there was a song called "tequilla makes her clothes come off" or something like that and I was like "what the f is sam doing now" till I realized it was not him...lol.

Well I listen to country and can tell you that Chickenfoot by itself could appeal to country music listeners without needing to change their sound. You probably don't realize but people who play and listen to country do listen to rock. Last year at four day festival I attended, various bands played Crazy Train, Walk, Enter Sandman and Fat Bottom Girls. The crowd ate it up.

One of the more popular bands Zak Brown Band plays Pearl Jam sometimes. Sugarland mixes U2, Pearl Jam and REM into their shows.

You listen to Jason Aldean and he uses drop D tuning in a few songs.

Sure there still is traditional country out there but the current country artists are closer to melodic rock than what you hear on alternative scene today.
