I'd be quite shocked if they had played this one around 91. VH believes too many changes in the set list can cause nervous breakdowns among their fans. For their fans' safety, set lists have pretty much remained the same over the course of a tour. Health comes first.

I was at that show and VH did not perform that song. To the best of my memory it was the usual two Sammy solo songs, 55 and TOOWTR.

I like how Metallica did this current tour.

They almost played their entire catalog in one tour.

Especially in the current age where you know the setlist before you go to the show, it is cool they change it around.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

That was an ongoing complaint with VH, especially through the Sammy years post OU812. I found it a little funny that they were picked on over this period specifically, simply because even dating back to Roth, their setlists were pretty much identical. I think the difference was that with Dave, his raps often made the difference. They seemed a little more spontaneous, Looooooooong, and broke it up alot, depending how wasted he was. Whereas for example, with Sammy during the FUCK tour, our local paper's critic wrote "Fans were subjected to a carbon copy setlist, and self indulgent, contrived rap by Shirley Temple haired, schlock rocker Sammy Hagar".
Maybe it was just that some people never accepted Sam. It's funny because in reality, he was in the band longer, but too some, he would always just be an ill fitting replacement.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.

I don't know if the whole "vh never changed up thier setlists while sam was in the band" thing really holds any water. in 95 it sure did (I don't even want to talk about 04). on every tour with sam up to the RHRN tour the band played a ton of different songs, yes they did play the same Dave era tunes on every tour but they played tons of cover songs and jammed stuff out. they did growth, crossroads, my generation, young man blues..I've got them doing Suzy Q, Born on the Bayou, rock candy, make it last...tons of stuff. Dick in the dirt is described in the VHE s being a jam, so sam probably started playing it on guitar and the band joined in for a few seconds or maybe even a minute or 2...they probably didn't even know that's what sam was playing.

the coolest thing I've seen on video from the sam era was the end of the 2nd birthday at the cabo wabo when VH played there. they play satisfaction (which sounds totally awsome btw) followed by Mississippi Queen then a ton of Zepplin songs...it is totally awsome cause at one point you can see Sam and Mike standing there and it looks like they have no idea what Ed and Al are gonna do next....vh could pull that shit off at one point but now they are so locked into the same old same old....ugg.

Yeah that was awesome, they played Philly before I seen them in Boston a year ago and we had no idea what to expect because their sets changed so much. Judas Priest has done a phenomenal job with setlist changes too, playing songs like Eat Me Alive, Dissident Aggressor (neither having ever been performed live), and some more obscure stuff like Between the Hammer and the Anvil.

If VH did play another Hagar song, why would they ever play Dick in the Dirt? What an awful, awful song.
