The Rods were killer, i think from New York, like Riot.

The guitarist was related to Ronnie Dio (David Feinstein), and i think he was in Elf.

The Rods got some good opening slots with Iron Maiden and others, put out two
killer albums (The Rods & Wild Dogs), but like Rush, they were a trio of fairly unattractive
    dudes.

But i remember hearing this tune on the radio in 1981, and losing my mind because
    it rocked so hard.

Their drummer, Carl Canedy, went on to produce a lot of really cool metal bands.
Like Riot, The Rods were respected by so many bands in that genre, but never rose
    above cult status.

The riff at the :40 mark, just the way it kicks in, with those JCM800's ablaze....

    Wow! That riff is vicious!
Some serious power. Can't imagine what they sounded like in person. Melting some faces, for sure.

Lets keep the heavy vibes flowing.

The girl in this vid looks just like Sarah Michelle Gellar. Right in the beginning when she turns to the camera... freaked me out for a minute.

I remember this tune! But I guess it was originally released by Kick Axe - Canadian band, 1st record (Ready to Strike). I guess it was included as part of a Transformer movie in the 1980s. KK was Carmine Appice's band after his days with Ozzy Osbourne and before he joined John Sykes to form Blue Murder, which I love.

BTW, Blue Murder (John Sykes + Tony Franklin + Carmine Appice) - Jelly Roll.

Nice! Great tune there, my friend.

I think that Dio and David Feistein were cousins. Blackmore got an eye on Dio since Elf had its records released by their label or something. Once Ritchie wanted to go solo, maybe because he was tired of Deep Purple, he got the entire Elf line up minus Steve Edwards (and not David Feistein as many folks uesd to think) and recorded Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow in 1975. Awesome record, ftm.

normally they want to be Led Zeppelin, but I think here Nancy wants to be a Rolling Stone. Horns remind me of the "Lone Wolf Horns" that ZZ Top "employed" on Deguello. Bass player has some weird metal thing over his strings - not sure what that's about?

This was cranked up and replayed (a few times) in the truck today...and the driver sung along and played air drums on the dashboard.

I love old HEART, Ann's voice was just spectacular.

"Even it up" does have a slight ZZ Top/Tubesnake Boogie, kinda feel to it.
