VH's name is ALWAYS thrown into the mix when it comes to the big festivals.

If they do, great. I'm not holding my breath though.

I don't know about that, as really they've only been a part of three that I know of, Monsters of Rock, US Festival, and Donington back in 1984. I don't see them as a "festival" type of band myself. I'd be very surprised if this comes to fruition. What are they gonna do, trot out and rehash the classics again?

I too have heard these rumours. The NME seem pretty convinced that they are going to be playing at Download.

It would be almost too good to be true to be honest but if they are going then I don't care who else is going to be there, I'll pay the £160 or whatever it is just to see VH!

I just don't see any festival promoter beating down Van Halen's door to play at one. VH just isn't all that relative anymore in the big scheme of things. $0.02

I wouldn't say that Van Halen were ever considered a "festival band" either.

However I'm sure they're..."Not about to do a free-form jazz exploration in front of a festival crowd."

I'm in the UK and since 1988 there have been rumours each and every year about Van Halen at a UK festival.

This won't happen. Download is traditionally 'heavier' than Van Halen and although Journey with their new (awesome) singer had a great slot last year......I just don't see our boys as relevant in any way.........NME isn't exactly on the cutting edge as far as flat out rock goes.
Ed: Actually, the last record I bought was by a band called Brand X
Al: I make my living by viciously attacking something
    Mike: ...actually I don't drink.
    Sammy: Are these yours Eddie?
Dave: Look at that ankle - dirty girl!

It would be great to see them at this thing. Even better to have an album behind them. Hell....Look at AC/DC. Angus is like 87 (I know, I know!)and still rocks out with his cock out! It would be a great thing for the fans to see a combo like this again!

    LMAO!!!

    Don't get too excited.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

It's probably something obvious, but what is NME?
