Default VH should perform at the "Help For Haiti" concert

I was thinking.... with DLR as a full fledged member of VH, he should get the VH bros. off of their asses and VH should perform at this concert. Big exposure, positive press, and a great cause. After reading Dave's book countless times, he was in Haiti all the time in the 80's...for devil's night etc.... you would think he would want to give back a little. But knowing Ed and Al, they wouldn't let that happen. Sad. Thoughts anyone?

There's not a lot of money to be made in concerts for charity.

Seriously though, while the Van Halens have apparently given significant portions of time and treasure for charity, they have never been ones for high profile giving.

Plus, they are so busy with all of their projects--slapping names on cymbals, cashing royalty checks for GH:VH, putting stripes on candle sticks, and finishing high school--they don't have time to do anything else.

Basically, they should do something like this because they can and it would be awesome, but they won't because Van Halen has NEVER done what they should do.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

My first thought when I read this thread title was "yeah well VH should do a lot of things"

Yeah it would be cool, but they're likely not the least bit interested.

Well yeah, but you can't compare VH to "lots of people", they're far more dysfunctional than the average bear. At least with other bands you know if they're broken up, on hiatus, etc. VH is always a mystery.

The bands that usually step up for benefit concerts will do so and those like VH which don't will stay course.

probably right about that. VH hasn't played these big benefits all that often. You never know but i wouldn't bet on them playing the show (not even sure if an invite would be made). Would be cool to see though.

They should but they probably won't.

Am I allowed to say that? Or is that to sarcastic and negative?

you're allowed to say whatever you want. and I'm allowed to close whatever I want.

i don't think that playing the show does anything for them but just for myself i'd like to see them play the show.

Would be cool but would never happen. Eddie is the wrench in the Van Halen machine. Lots of things they could have done since their last album 11 years ago but thanks to edweird, all we got was a couple of reunion tours.

That's the key point there... Ed's wife.

Thread starter thinks Diamond Dave should champion the cause... sorry the Diamond one is just a contract player. Ed and Al own the kingdom and Yoko II owns the keys.

Only hope of something like this would be if Wolfie convinces the old man to get out of the house for a good cause.

But as we can see Mrs Guitar God has Ed on clean-up duty gettin rid of his vintage cars/trucks and all the crap in the yard... I wouldn't be suprised to see a huge yard sale advertised hawking vintage studio gear so the little Mrs can convert that old studio into a nursery and sewing room...

Are VH relevant enough to even be invited/wanted at such an event?
