Great job, Ron! I was hoping you'd post pics of it! Love to see this version! However... I do have some constructive, not negative (so please don't take offense, I know there are very, very few pics of this version!), observations, though...

On the actual '79 white pickguard version:
-it was an eight-hole pick guard
-the bridge pick up was angled
-the volume knob was in the middle position
-the bridge pick had no screws affixing it to the pickguard
-the middle position pick up hole had five screw holes (two regular and three for a Tele pick up)
-there were five screws securing the bridge to the body (only the "A" screw was missing)
-most of the "battle damage" on the paint and body was not yet present

A reference pic showing all of those details...

    Pretty sweet Ron.
The pickguard also looks like it's single-ply.

    It was.

Notice the upper horn, Ed screwed in a jack plate to help secure his strap (which, at the time, was a piece of red and black rope!)

    Thanks guys!
I knew it had all kinds of stuff wrong.
But Jimis right hands down. Dead on about not many reference pics too.
All I was workin from was that dinky one with Ed in the jumpsuit.
The guy I did it for supplied the guitar. Nice axe. The bridge he got was Gibby spaced. So I couldn't angle the pup like it should. That I did catch. Everything else I am guilty.
Im so used to relicin em too. I knew as soon as I starrted that i was screwin up.
See. Even I can overdo it. One of my biggest peeves.
I was fun though. Neet to do somethin different.
The best part was beatin it up when it was black and white.

    Great Job, Ron!

Do you guys remember the manufacturer Series 10? They made a replica of this version of the Frankie in the mid-80s. Cheaper version. A buddy of mine had one. I can't find any info on those any more.

Ron, you know I love and respect your work, bro'! That version of the Franky was EXTREMELY short-lived and if all you had was the "pic ax" photo to work from, it's understandable- that picture shows very little clear detail!

    Yeah! Thats the one.
    I couldn't find another anywhere.
Even with all the crap I got around. It was short lived.

I remember that guitar because my very first guitar was a Series 10 strat.
Got it in 1987 but traded it for a fender squire bullet which i still have - back when squires were great!
Anyway they were called Series 10 by Bentley.

Bentley- one of many who ate EVH's lunch and turned him into the stripe Nazi. I had one of those, as well...

Awesome work as always bud! I was looking forward to seeing this one. I don't think I've ever seen a recreation of that version. Must be a extra fun build for you. You did a beautiful job!

I love that old picture of Ed in the jumpsuit and all the guitars. lol (they used to sell similar jump suites at Chess King in the day! lol I never owned one though, thankfully lol)

Looking at that jumpsuit pic of Ed now...is the ovation laying on the ground the nylon string one he used for Spanish Fly?
