Default Cool Youtube of Dweezil Zappa talkinga about meeting EVH for the first time

And he does a kick ass version of "Eruption" on a Fender EVH...

Incidentally, a friend loaned me the DVD of "Zappa Plays Zappa" this past weekend. Absolutely a must see for an Frank Zappa fan. Not only is Dweezil outstanding, but the band he's assembled for this project is fantastic. Dweezil and Steve Vai perform a great jam after "Peeches En Ragalia." That alone is worth viewing this DVD. I'm really impressed at how Dweezil has grown as not only a guitarist, but a musician.

Here's another clip of Dweezil talking about the rig he had built in order to capture the authenticity Of Frank's early sounds for the Zappa Plays Zappa project. Also talks about the guitars he uses on the tour. This is a good view for any gear heads on here.

Yeah this has been around before. Cool story and phenomenal job covering it. The second half of the solo sounds as identical to the album version as I've ever heard.

I should make a correction. The jam with Vai and Dweezil is actually during the tune "Montana" which follows "Peaches En Ragalia." And Vai performs a solo during the tune "Zomby Woof" that is down right jaw dropping. It's Just out of this world!

For whatever reason, I've always felt that Zappa's music brings out the best in Vai. This is vintage stuff.

Fantastic. Steve Vai is an alien of some sort - he's not of this world! Satch says Vai has a extra finger or something... Who can out duel Steve Vai? I don't think there is a guitarist alive who has the bag of tricks Vai has. Songwriting wise - yes. Outright otherworldy guitar? No!

The entire performance on this DVD (I believe it was produced from two different shows in Portland, OR) is outstanding. The entire band Dweezil assembled is stellar.

I love watching Vai play the guitar. But as mentioned earlier, his writing is just Ok to me as well.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
