    Default Any vocalists on here?

If so, what do you guys use for live gigs for effects?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I use the Digitech Vocal 300. It has some cheezy effects (like an "Oh Yeah", "Monster", "Alien", and my all-time favourite, "Alvin"), but I like the Thicken and the slap and plate can be modulated pretty well if used outboard. I used "Alvin" in my old band's song "Voodoo Chipmunk/HUGE Return" (Yes, a chipmunk version of "Voodoo Chile/Slight Return") and always got great reception. Of course people would actually think I could actually talk like Alvin, even though I sound like the English version of Barry White.
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

what kind of effects are you looking for Dave?

Boss makes a pedal that I hear good things about. Here's a link:

Then there's this one by TC Helicon:

    http://www.guitarcenter.com/TC-Helic...07-i1125267.gc

Those are pedal style effects systems. Obviously there are some good rack units.

Are you wanting just stuff like reverb and perhaps some doubling/harmony stuff or are you wanting cookier things like flanger and spacey echos and such?
    Stay out of it, dude.

I have been reading the review of that new Boss Pedal and thought I might give that a shot. Looked at the TC Helion and in response to bunnyman I have been looking at the Digitech as well. The Digitech used to be a lot cheaper than the Boss, but I just followed Broken's link and they have really dropped the price on the Boss.

For example, just looking for a pedal in which I could go from a clean tone like Mellencamp's "Small Town" to a very effect laden tone like Alice in Chains "Would".

I hate to admit this because it will truly show the absolute amateur that I am, but I have been running it through an old guitar amp just to put some reverb on it, and I was thinking it was about time to maybe upgrade a bit!

what is the application? Live? Recording at home or just garage jams?

I have a fair amount of experience with the digitech and I'm not a big fan of it...for what that's worth. It's nothing I'd feel real confident in, going on stage night after night and using it in a real professional setting. I felt the effects were sort of goofy and better suited to people that wanted it more as a toy or gimmick rather than people who wanted actual usable practical effects. That being said, it was a lot of fun to play with. I enjoyed fiddling with it.

If you're looking for a pedal based set up rather than a rack unit, then I think the TC Helicon and the Boss are much better. The Boss is probably the most indestructable but the TC Helicon probably sounds a bit better.

Let me know what you think after noodling with them!

I'm gonna shift this one to the Musician's Corner now, since it is non-guitar related. I'll leave a re-direct for a few days. I know it gets more exposure to the regulars in the Guitar Room.
