Default Sticking guitar picks to guitar body:

Is there any way of doing this without double sided tape or Velcro? I would think there would be something that you can professionally put on the body to hold picks these days, but I can't find ANYTHING. Any help?

I don't like the idea of sticking something to my guitars, so I either stick a spare under my pickguard or wedge one in between strings at the headstock.

Most of the solutions that are professional involve some sort of sticking something to your guitar. I find that I end up losing the Dunlop stick-on pick holder, as the adhesive is weak enough to not hurt your finish. I recommend looping gaffer's tape sticky-side out on the boom part of the mic stand, myself.
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

At the beginning of a performance... just super glue the pick to your fingers. It'll hold up to 4-5 hours of heavy playing before you rip the skin off...

For longer sessions or death metal use Gorilla glue with an epoxy over-coat combined with a brass pick... Better yet... go to your local body piercing outfit and have one surgically implanted!!

Don't stick em to your guitar... that's so 80's...

I always just used 2 inch. 3M masking tape; the budget way. I'd roll it into a tube, then mash it flat to the guitar. It comes off easy and leaves no residue. Check the back of Gutar World, or Guitar Player in the black & white ad section. There is one deal that is like a pick shaped box. I can't recall the name of it (Planet Waves?), but it's usually there. It sticks to your guitar with a suction cup device similar to say a GPS or radar detector for your car. It's springloaded like a PEZ dispenser, and it holds about a dozen (medium) thickness picks. You just slide out the pick, and it moves up another. It says it will not mar the finish. I think it goes for seven to ten dollar range. Just don't do what Ed does and use gaffers or duct tape like the way I do with masking tape! Unless you want your guitar to look like the 5150 or Franky.

I almost never drop picks. If I'm thinking about it, I'll slide one underneath the pickguard but yeah, taping a dozen pics to your guitar is pretty 80s...why does anyone need so many?

Yep -- actually I use the 3M blue painter's tape if I need picks on the guitar. It's even more gentle on your finish than plain masking tape. I doubt either would damage your finish.

Haha! True. I usually stick a few on depending on the tunes. I usually don't use picks at all, but for tunes that require them like with trills, or require alot of 16th. note headbangin' runs or lots of pickslides, like Summer Nights, then I use 'em. Sometimes different thicknesses too.

I can think of one show in the last two years where I dropped my pick. I had an extra sitting on top of my amp.

I agree taping picks to your guitar is gay... I mean, 80s.

hmm...yeah I suppose if you're doing a ton of pick slides tossing the picks aside may become necessary because they can grow those teeth...still 6 to 8 in on show?
