    Default Stew Mac Binding....

Anyone else get some of the stewmac 'cream' colored binding? It looks more like orange or gold binding.... not even close to matching most zebra pickups.

So... where do you guys get the good stuff that's more of a mild off-white? Like on a EBMM or a Les Paul?

I bought and used the StewMac cream binding, and it is indeed very cream--meant to match exactly the cream binding on Les Pauls (and it does).

Yes- Stew Mac binding matches modern Les Paul bindings, which are indeed, quite orangey looking. What I have found is that the original LPs were bound in white bindings, then the acetate and lacquer aged gently to the cream you see now.

I would age a white binding with ReRanch tinted clear, if it were me.
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

You might want to check out allparts for binding. I recently rebound an old Gibson lg-1 and the binding from allparts was a pretty close match. Their cream binding is more of a yellowish off white color than the orange-ish pinkish cream binding from stewmac.

No wonder I don't like the looks of newer Les Pauls... I mean, this binding is orange!

    Thanks for the info guys.

I bought from Stewmac about 6 months ago, and it was cream, not too orangey at all, but then just how orange is yours? Wonder if they just had an off lot. Hmmmm.

Good news! I've had it hanging by my window in the sun for about 4 months now... and I just checked it. It ALMOST matches the creme on my Dimarzio Zebra pickups now, and those are pretty dark! It's still a little bit more orangey/darker, but it's very close. I wish I had a 'before' picture so I could do a comparison... oh well. Maybe they did have a bad batch.
