A good comment at the 1:00 mark regarding new material in 2010...

That was a really cool interview. Nice gear info.

"We eventually started playing clubs, and we also did weddings. We played everything from the Ohio Players to K.C. & the Sunshine Band. I posted this in my review of the show, but I'll repeat here as it's apropos to the clip.

I did the backstage thing, and while waiting out front, our tour guy drew numbers for various swag. I ended up winning Michael's bass strings from the previous concert.

Then I actually met him backstage and mentioned that I'd won his strings. He asked to see them and joked, saying he'd never seen them before. Then he grabs a pen and autographs the envelope holding the strings: "My strings! Michael Anthony"

At least now I know what type they are.

Oh, and Michael Anthony is a class act!

Thanks for posting that. I like the geek gear talk--cool to hear Mike's working on a signature amp with Peavey. (The quality of Ampeg stuff has gone to absolute shit in the last few years, so it's no surprise Mike was looking to do something different.)

    1. They are writing new material and laying down ideas! How great is that?
    2. John Paul Jones. Enough said.
    3. This guy is one classy fellow.

And so Chickenfoot became the band we now know in early-ish 2008. They wrote, recorded, and toured for an album through 2009. In 2010 they'll do a new album again. Assuming that album comes out in 2010, it will, in all likelihood, beat a new Van Halen album to release (assuming VH will eventually start working on one). Now I'm not crazy about speculation and making lots of assumptions, but under the previously stated set of circumstances Chickenfoot will have recorded and released two full length albums since Van Halen's tour ended in 2008, and Van Halen will have released zero--maybe one--in that same amount of time. I'm just sayin'.

Andrew, I've seen ice ages that move quicker than Van Halen. I'm done holding my breath. Long live the 'foot!

but Sam's work ethic sucks? I just heard a portion of that interview on my IPOD and I almost spit my water all over my monitor, just hearing Ed say that and looking back on everything that's gone down since 96 just makes me LOL

Yeah... I got a kick outta that too! It was all Sam. I dunno. I think once Ed finally starts getting some positive feedback from his music again, then the dam will break. I mean after all, he's the same guy that wrote all that killer music. He's just gotta get it out there first!

I'm sure it won't be the VH of old, but he's still a great songwriter. I would'nt put anything he's written since III up there as a benchmark of what he's capable of. He just coasted through a substance induced haze through that time. I remember Sam responded to a question from some radio guy about Ed's state on stage in late 04, and he said that he did'nt even know who he was anymore, and that when he played, he just rode his amps.

Totally accurate in my opinion. Now, he's sober (knock on wood) seems happy, has Dave back in the band for better or worse; at least they seem to be able to work together, and he's got his son in the band. There's gotta be some stimulus there to dust off the mixing board and get recording another album. At this stage, it means more than a tour to me. A show lasts one night, but a good album.....man! Look at Chickenfoot. I love that album. They just let loose, and the result? It's just a great rock & roll record. That's what VH have got to do. I hope we get one.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.
