    Default Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Homes"

This is gonna be worth it just for the 'hammer scene' alone. Was skeptical at first about RDJ playing Holmes, but this looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

    Release Date: 25 December 2009
    Genre: Action | Adventure
Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Rachel McAdams, Jude Law, Mark Strong, Kelly Reilly
    Director: Guy Ritchie
Writer: Guy Ritchie, Anthony Peckham, Simon Kinberg
    Studio: Warner Brothers

    Plot:
Detective Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Law) engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England.

I am a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan. I will give RDJ the benefit of the doubt after he pulled off Ironman the way he did.

I hope this is good - it does look it - because Guy Richie needs a hit. All the promise he showed with "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels" and he has spent the last few years repeating the same formula with diminishing returns.

I am probably one of the very few that enjoyed "Rock n' Rolla", but an updating of Holmes seems perfect for his style, given that he writes characters that would seem more at place in this time period anyway.

If he has done this right, and he does have the right cast, this could just be the big hit of the winter.

    The trailer looks promising.

    No deerstalker???

Kinda strange take on the sstory but should be interesting, Would like to have heard more of his accent but it doesnt sound too bad. (The worst ever has to have been Keanu Reeves in Dracula). Mark Strong makes a great baddie. I cant stand Jude Law though.

The trailer looks great...His first three films were great. He meets the super SKANK Madonna and his films go right in the toilet. He has finally rid himself of that filthy whore, so "Holmes" just has to be good.

Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp are the two best actors and can play just about any part.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

I just hope they don't make Holmes some modern action type movie. I hope they show some restraint and class for the character and not pander to the least common denominator.

That looks cool to me! I've always liked Robert Downey, Jr. I was sure we were going to lose him a few years back, like many others thought. So glad he was able to clean himself up. He's a great actor. If he ever gets the right role, he'll win an Oscar.

As much as I like Depp, I'm glad to see him not involved in this one. I've heard his Brit accent one too many times.
