Van Roth played in England in '78,'79,'80 and '84--did they ever play at the BBC an' if so, how 'bout a fucking release? FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, let's see some live VAN ROTHIN', some rarities, some early demos, some perfect fidelity tunes we've only heard that sound like they were recorded under a tank, some rare interviews--COME ON, The Who, Zep, Jimi, Beatles, Yardbirds, and for chrissakes, even Dinasaur Jr. fans get some ol' BBC lovin'. I juss bought a sweet live Doors album--an' it says that Doors fans basically demanded that some live recordings be released and now they've already got a compilation of live jive--looks like every gig from this cd will eventually get released.

How 'bout an early VH DVD? How 'bout the US Festival with the pre-gig party an' all the press for the gig??

This is BULLSHIT!!!!!! True, the remasters were great, but I Want Some New Songs from Van Roth!!!!!! Not some half-ass Van Hagar same-ol' FUCK setlist horseshit!!!! The Real Deal, The Original Big Rock Heavy Hittin' OH LAWD IT'S HARD TO BE HUMBLE GANGSTAZ!!!!!! The Atomic Punks slam dunk blues thug pop rock riffology style!!!!

RELEASE SOMETHING!!!!!!RARE!!!!!!SOON!!!!!NOW!!!!!

I hear ya, my friend. I'm waiting for the damn OAKLAND DVD. That would be a fucking dream!

Those DOORS live releases are the shit. Now that's stuff serious fans will adore. THE DOORS are also working on releasing a DVD of their rare concert film FEAST OF FRIENDS and a complete live DVD in Dolby Digital 5.1 of their ISLE OF WIGHT performance in 1970. And, as if this weren't enough with all the other concert CD's, they're going to put together a CD of studio outtakes.

I wish VH would start doing shit like this.

Interesting point, BBC have taped everything since the birth of Christ, there must be some lill old VH in their vaults somewhere!
If Y&T, Thin Lizzy even Budgie receive the BBC treatment, man VH could sure do with some! Mind you VH have kind of drifted off in the European market, maybe BBC don't think it would sell?
They must be nuts if they think that.

Everyone else has done a BBC album.... why the Hell not?

Another possibility is the King Biscuit Flower Hour. They have been releasing CD's of their old shows for years. Anybody remember if Van HALEN ever did this show?

Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!

...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

I don't remember hearing much or any VH at all around that time on the BBC, and I listened to the shows that would have conceivably taped them pretty regularly.

It wasn't really until Beat It/Jump that you'd hear anything VH related on the radio. The DJ who played hard rock on BBC radio back then (and now does VH1) was Tommy Vance. He has an email address here

http://www.totalrock.com/fri_rock.htm

...maybe he'd have some idea.

I hear ya preachin', bro!! Great post! I can't remember the title of the Doors disc Ize waz jivin' 'bout but it includes a live rendition,"Been Down So Long," with some harmonica and an incredible medley of Love Me Two Times/Baby Please Don't Go/St.James Infirmary!!!!!! An' Oakland sho' nuff would be a sweet release!! The Earache My Eye/ATBL jam...all thoze FW trax that I'm sho the band couldn't wait to bust into...GOOD GOD Y'ALL!!!!!!...

The gig that they opened up for the Stones in '81 would be cool, too. Maybe sneak in a hidden track of Keef jammin' with Van Halen on,"If You Can't Rock Me," at soundcheck.
