    EVH Phase 90 problem

Here's a bizarre problem I'm having on my EVH Phase 90.

At practice Friday I noticed all of a sudden I couldn't turn the pedal off, I'd hit the switch and it kept staying on. So when we took a break, I looked at it, and it wasn't clicking anymore, so it couldn't switch. It would just press down.

So I took the back off and I noticed that the board was kinda moving, so unless I pushed it back up to the button it wasn't making contact. If I held the board up, it clicked fine. Soon as I took the pressure away it didn't. I figured I'd just need to tighten everything and that was the problem.

So last night I took it apart, tightened everything and still the board is moving away when I press the button so it won't freaking click. Does anyone have any ideas? It's bizarre and it's pissing me off

    Thanks.

Nope, everthing tightens just fine. The board just moves away from the switch. Nothing cracked, at least not that I can see.

Sounds to me like the solder connections are loose, should be a simple fix,or the switch itself is damaged.

Can't really be a solder issue, because it's the board that is moving. There's not a bad connection.

your right, hmm, that is bizarre, open it up,and try to move the board with your hand,it should be secure,it must be the switch itself.

Well I gerry-rigged it. I stuck a piece of rubber in there, so when the casing is on, it pushes the board up to the switch tightly. Works fine now. Still a very strange thing.

Maybe there was a piece of plastic or something that provided the counter-pressure needed, only it broke off. So your piece of rubber is providing the same function.

I love my EVH Phase 90, but for the life of me I cant hear a difference with the mod button engaged. I just read that you can adjust with a jewlers screwdriver under the shell, so I'll have a go at that

Here's a question for you guys. Do any of you hear a bit of an audible thump with each sweep? I'm wondering if it's normal or not. It's not major, but it's just at the top end of the sweep. mainly noticeable on cleans but a little annoying when recording. Other than that, it sounds real good.

The problem with the thump can be resolved by not using a powersupply but instead using an Eric Johnson approved Ray-o-Vac 12 volt battery that is exactly 89.954687% of a full charge...
