How far away could the Micheal Jackson Gibson or Fender be????

I'm surprised that there hasn't been a Dimebag Gibson or Fender yet... I'm sure if Vinnie thinks about it enough, there will be.

Seems like there might be a market for a series of these high end pianos. I'm thinking of the Sgt Peppers/Magical Mystery Tour/Yellow Submarine era for a cool grand piano motif as well.

In this particular instance it does raise the question: "what does Hendrix have to do with pianos" but it seems to be more of an artistic motif/inspiration rather than a "signature" hendrix piano...which would obviously make no sense.
    Stay out of it, dude.

I'm just not sure for one, how Gibson all of a sudden became synonymous with Hendrix. Sure he played a Flying V from time to time, and I think I've seen one shot of him with a Paul in the studio, but the Fender......a real Fender to me is more about Hendrix, just like the Frankie or 5150 is to Edward. When I look at a Strat, I always have that flash of memory of Jimi transdermaly blazed, laying down searing solos. Again Ed played a V from time to time, but it's not what he's known for. Gibson has made Fenderish reproductions in the past, and vice versa for Fender, but how can Gibson be comishioned to make a Fender replica?....let alone attach anything Hendrix to a piano? I understand the piano is just kind of a tribute piece, but to me it's not much different from producing a "Jimi Hendrix inspired tuba". Just fucking wierd to me. Janie Hendrix.......so much for not cashing in and cheapening the legacy. You obviously just sold out to the highest bidder, at the expense of at least honouring the tools of the trade for the man. Sickening.

That's what I'm talk'n bout Chef. A Jimi Hendrix Paul.....Absolutely. Not a Gibson Stratocaster......Not a piano. Just wrong. Gibson have just become corporate greed personified. My buddy is a Gibby guy thru and thru, and he was more pissed that they would lower themselves into what he percieved as crafting an inferior instrument. I don't subscribe to that; I think both Gibsons and Fenders have a solid place in history for manufacture, but this just reaks of a quick cash ploy.

It isn't a "gibson" stratocaster and it isn't a "gibson hendrix piano" either. It's a baldwin piano and it's a hendrix brand cheese guitar.

Yes Gibson is the parent company and yeah this is absolutely a cash grab but is it any more of a cash grab than if they were to make a ten thousand dollar commemorative Gibson les paul or flying V?

The bitch shopped Hendrix's license around and Gibson bought it. To me it's no more sacrilege than if Fender were to make the exact same guitar pack under the squire name or if Yamaha decided to make a piano with a Hendrix influenced paint job.

There's two sides to look at this from...to this point, all the Hendrix gear has been pretty top notch and pretty pricey. I have a Hendrix wah that I love and paid over 200 bucks for. Now, the lower price point fans and novices can have a little piece of the vibe...a tiny, cheesey piece, but hey, at least they're having a bone thrown at them. How many times have we heard cries for EVH to make a more reasonably priced version of the wolfgang for those who don't want to shell out three grand?

As for the piano? I wouldn't be surprised to see this turn into something. I thought about the Beatle one but I could also see a John Lennon Imagine grand piano with some of John's drawings on it and the Imagine logo with his self-portrait.

I personally think the artwork on the Hendrix piano is pretty lame. Seems like they missed the boat and could have done something with a more open vibe, something like a Monterrey Pop festival or Woodstock theme to it.

I don't get, nor do I like the Hendrix piano but I can't say i'm terribly offended by it or anything.
