    Default Chickenfoot made me sad

I saw the foot at the Greek the other night.

I liked the album, wasn't blown away by it though... but live these guys bring it. Chad plays the drums like a mad man... never seen anyone hit that hard.

A few songs into it, I turned to one of my buddies and said "remember when halen was this good?" It really sucks that I haven't had a good van halen moment since balance came out.

Halen was the soundtrack of my youth. While there were a ton of other bands that shared rotation, it was VH that defined the rules. I don't care if it was Dave or Sammy at the mic... the energy they provided to our lives was real and appreciated.... putting on the gear before a football game, drinking with the fellas or just cranking it alone in the car. They made the music and we made it ours.

I didn't even know the songs the foot were playing the other night, as I've only listened to the disc a few times. But make no mistake, it was the van halen show, I've been missing since 96.

I'll be there every time they're in the bay area from now on.

And part of me is sad about that.

Dude, eVH fucked up twice, once for Sam and one for Mike. Mike played awesome bass tonite. And Sam CANNOT be 62. Someone gotta investigate his birth certificate, it can't be real. They gotta analyze his blood in a lab, and make some magic youth potion out of it! Damn!

    Ed's a fucking prick.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

It doesn't make me sad - but frustrated.

Personally I'm thrilled that Mike and Sam have made new music with artists that quiet honestly - I wouldn't have associated to. The music the 4 of them made was fantastic; I'll take seconds of more chicken please!

I'm frustrated because Ed et el have had a chance to make new music as well; but they haven't. They've become what Ed said he didn't want - which is a nostalgia band. THAT frustrates the hell out of me - because there is talent there that is being wasted. Further, the reasons for the delay are quite honestly BS alcoholism reasons (it's not Ed's fault - it never is - it's someone elses); that is THE line of someone who is an alcoholic; period. If he spent as much time writing AND recording new music as he did blaming others - we'd have at least 2 of the '10 cd's worth of music'.

I've said to myself that I likely won't buy a new Van Halen CD - as I doubt one will ever surface. Plus - by the time it comes out, it won't interest me. Who knows - maybe I will - but I was a HUGE G'n'R fan - and I didn't buy his/their CD - as it didn't interest me.

Who knows though...maybe they'll release a CD in 2 or 3 years; and maybe it will contain A song that I download from iTunes...it'd be nice - but I doubt it'll happen.

One this is certain, you'll never see me at another Van Halen concert again. I've seen them w/ Dave now; seen them w/ Sam - I'm done shelling out $150 per ticket to hear the same fucking guitar solo from 1984.
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

Yup in the end it's hard to be sad when you see a show a fantastic as the one I saw last nite. You wouldn't want any of the band members to rejoin ANY band. They fit perfectly there.
