Default WOW !!! Ebayer slams Eddie !!!

I don't know if this was posted yet or not. I just got home and saw this..............http://cgi.ebay.com/BEWARE-OF-THE-EV...d=p3286.c0.m14..... oh man, I was just previewing my post and saw they just pulled it !!! They must have just pulled this 10 seconds ago. Some guy posted an auction slamming ed for not letting people build striped guitars. It was actually very creative the way he did it too. Did anybody else catch this ? It was hilarious, He said what has been coming for a long time. It was about time someone did it. ED is a day late and a dollar short in my book He has basically devaluated his own product by being a hoar !! Kinda like the goverment that prints too much money !!

Yeah, it was preety huge ! He had this super long section for his description in bold print . Slamming Ed and his Al. He also acknowledged the fact that it would probably be pulled, and what do you know seconds later after I read it was yanked !!! He was posting people's responses too. People were applauding him for it. In a way people are tired of both Ebay and ED, they both have run there course ! It is what it is.

k...had a chance to check out the image shack link. Earlier I was on my PDA.

The guy sounds like a complete bitter tool.

WAAAAHHH...I'm broke, I have no original ideas of my own but damn if I'm not really good at copying someone else's popular design and style but the fucker won't let me make money doing it! He must be a greedy bastard...like that Jew Gene Simmons.

Whatever. I guess he'll get his dose of hero worship for all the other bittermen out there who share his opinion but that doesn't change the fact that he's a bitter wannabe.
    Stay out of it, dude.

I guess I don't see the big deal of not being able to sell Ed's guitars either. He has a legal copyright, he enforces it, get over it. Do I think it's fair? Well it's his design folks. Are those crappy Fenders worth anywhere near $2,000 let alone $25k? Of course not! But if you have a half a brain and do a litte research, there are plenty of places to go get a Frank built for you, with superior quality at a fair price. Most of those guys are on this forum.

Seems obsessive and out of touch imo. Kinda scary.

Most fans and builders know the deal. Ed isn't wrong for taking control of his intellectual property. It's worth something. Most private builders who "go there" know the deal and aren't so fanatically angry about it.

I mean even the owner of McDowell's knew the deal..

I'm split down the middle on this. On one hand, I don't see any problem with Ed keeping his trademark secure; this guy's complaints have no grounds there. He sounds like a very, very bitter man (not so different from Ed there!) who is resorting to teenage - or even middle school - insults to vent some of his frustration.

On the other hand, as unnecessary as it was, it was pretty funny. I especially liked the VHIII comment.

Like Indiana Jones would say "Nazis, I hate those guys!"
With an antisemite comment like that, this idiot doesen't deserve to make any money out of VH.
Maybe he forgot Dave is Jewish too.

Sorry, dude, but that's not the way to deal with your frustrations.

I agree Ed has most definitely tightened his grip. I once had an eBay auction pulled (wrongfully so, I believe) for a "Peavey EVH Wolfgang Floyd Rose Locking Nut" I was selling. The thing came off a "Peavey EVH Wolfgang" guitar, but somehow his people thought I was violating use of the EVH brand name. Frustrating, yes; but not a license to go overboard and vocalize less-than-classy thoughts on the wrong kind of public forum.

Ed has, in every legal capacity, the absolute right to pull things that violate his trademarks. It's left a bad taste in the mouths of those of us who always knew Ed as the carefree "punk kid" guitar player (as he once described himself). If he didn't have legal people enforcing his trademarks, how rampant would EVH-style EVERYTHING be on eBay and the like? Folks will just have to come up with something original to sell to make money.

That dude had an interesting point, but he blew it. That being said...

I think Eddie is entitled to it. Totally! I mean, he created his stuff, it's not right to profit out of someone's work. If any of you guys ever came through a good idea, would you like people making business out of it, exploring you? Of course this could stretch into other territories, like online books, online music... Most of us have an EVH guitar, but I guess most of us don't do business with it. I admit I don't like the way he capitalizes on his trademark (guitars, pedals, shoes, what's next?), but that is his exclusive right. Eddie is protecting is work and previous efforts, that's all. I still think he is a prick, though.

PS: the Rasta and the Unchained patterns aren't trademarked yet, are they? Run for it, guys!

I can guaruntee this dickwad wasn't even born yet when Ed copyrighted those patterns.
The initial reason was so that Charvel would stop selling guitars striped like his.
The guy should be banned from eBay for that shit.
That would be funny if it was Jim Duffy.
I know how Ed feels too.
When I first started making Frankenstrats many moons ago, People would email me all the time asking how I did this and how I did that.
Me, all proud of myself, told certain techniques. Next thing I knew these people were all over sayin "Look at my awesome Frankenstrat".
What took me endless hours in the shop and a shitload of fucked up guitars and parts to get my shit authentic, took them one email.
That's why you'll rarely hear me tell you how I do shit.
    Spend hours finding out yourself.
I have a few copyrighted designs myself. If Fender or Gibson or any other guitar manufactuer makes guitars with my idea, Im on em.
