Default Pat Buchanan Off Deep End, Continues Digging

Why anybody continues to listen to this POS is beyond me:

I thought it was interesting. The whole idea seems speculative to me, but I enjoy reading differing viewpoints. His position doesn't appear to be anything new, and like most everything else, is subject to debate and personal interpretation.

I'm not sure why it makes him a "POS", or crazy to write this piece (which is really just promoting his book on the subject).

It's the Third Reich's perspective. He doesn't even try to be neutral.

If WWII was an obscure subject, I could see where he might have new information, but it's not. There are hundreds of thousands of books just on Nazis alone, they all go into detail about what Hitler's ultimate goal was, and it wasn't peace.

So the idea of an educated man looking at Hitler's Third Reich and seeing men of peace who were forced into war is...insane.

Actually he has written some pretty interesting pieces and just doesn't throw shit up against the wall. I read a book of his called "Death of the West" about 7 years ago and it was a really good read that is coming more true every day. Basically was about how American and Europe won't be able to continue their culture due the low birthrates of whitey and the higher birthrates of the immigrants to both areas. Eventually what used to be the majority will be the minority and eventually European culture will be eliminated from the earth in due time. America will have it easier than Europe due to the fact that the Hispanics are traditionally Catholic and can assimilate easier. Since the majority of immigrants in Europe are Muslim, they don't want to fit in and you are seeing the reprecussions of that now.

I guess one can say that whites deserve it for all the pain they have inflicted on the world but it was a good read.

B.H. Liddell Hart had the same interpretation in his "History of the Second World War;" however, B.H. Liddell Hart has been revealed to be a fraud in regards to his theory of Blitzkrieg and his insistance of it being his idea. A facinating, interesting, and ultimately tragic figure in military historian circles...(a quickly dwindling historian genre I might add.

The Germans in WW2 always had a habit of blaming other countries for getting themselves invaded by Germans.

Seems fairly accurate to me. He is simply questioning the motivation having not had personal knowledge. Interesting perspective and we will never know. Don't be so quick to jump what you don't necessarily understand or a different view point! It is merely a theory that hardly makes him a POS.

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Pat has always been fascinated with Hitler maybe thats why he worked for Nixon.

If Pat had, I don't know, read "Mein Kampf" he'd know that Hitler planned to go east and kick ass even before he got out of prison.

There are a few things that Pat ignores. As a poster stated, Mein Kampf was a blue print of things to come. And there is plenty of written and recorded speechs by Hitler that basically spelled out his intent to dominate the region. The Treaty of Versaille was his main reason for going after France which would have happened sooner or later. A country doesn't build a war machine like Germany did just to sit on their thumbs. By the mid 30's, war was inevitable.

I don't know if I take it as Buchanan being a Hitler apologist though I think he's misguided. I do think, as in any war, that there were things done by others beside the antagonist that added to the outbreak of war. That being said, WW2 likely wouldn't have happened the way it did if Hitler never happened. However, with Hitler, it would have happened regardless of if tFDR or Churchill were around or not.
